Holy crap, everything is easy to change on this car.

Changing the fuel pump is as easy as changing the spark plugs. 5-10 minutes. Unlike the Supra, you can access the fuel pump via a panel right next to the spare tire well. It just lifts right out.

Even the fuel filter is easy, it's right next to the passenger strut tower in the engine bay.

I was super surprised how easy the pump was to replace. I went into my friends house for a bite to eat and when I came out to the garage the old pump was out and the new one was halfway in. I was shocked.

are they acceptable power wise? for dd status? I get mad at slow cars that i own that dont have enough power to pass on the highway or even pull out of my neighborhood which is onto a 55mph 4 lane road

You can swap in an SR20, RB, JZ, or SBC with premade kits, so if that KA doesn't do it for ya, you have a lot of easy options lol

usdm SX with KA engines are slow and handle poorly when stock, their suspensions are weak, sway bars are small, most of them dont have lsd and so on ;) However EDM models are completely different, pure drift car :) just need a normal SR20DET engine instead of that CA18DET

Are there really that many differences between EDM and USDM Spec SXs? I knew they got a weak sauce engine compared to us, but I thought that was it

If it is a S-chassis car and it doesn't have a KA, it fails. C18's are full of fail but their redeeming factors are A: nobody wants then so they are cheap, and B: they are rareish cuz nobody wants then cuz they fail. SR's are also full of fail with NO redeeming factor....A: NO power for a turbo car, B: 2.0liter FTL, C: expensive, D: they fucking suck, E: every former civic owner has one and drifts it too.

I hope that this post is meant to be satirical :sarcasm: - A 2400cc motor which produces 140hp is the definition of 'fail'.

Im sorry but a 1800cc turbo with 170bhp is good? Or how about an over priced 2000cc turbo with 200bhp? The dualcam KA has 155hp and I would take it anyday over the other two. Sorry if I offended you but KA-T is where it is at. Cheap, reliable, a fuckload more power than an SR could ever imagine to put out, and they are easy to work on. But hey if you like sr's then good for you. I doubt I am going to change your mind.

His grammar may be bad but the man makes a point. A KA-T will beat an SR20DET everytime. And they're cheap, which is even better.

SR20's have plenty of tuning scope, as do CA18's which will make 300horse very cheaply and very easily.

The point is I doubt you'd be in much of a hurry to drop in a KA series motor if your S1x had a CA18 or SR20 under the hood from the factory ;).

I've got a friend who had a Ca18det in his 240sx and it stayed in for about a month before he went back to his Ka24de. I sure as hell know I'd be getting rid of a CA for a KA if I had a 240.

I've got a friend with a KA-T got power but not as reliable as the SR, id take the SR any day cause there made for turbos as the KA's arent meant for turbo.

thats why they invented forged internals. :naughty:
i would love a KA-T 240sx...
but i would rather have a pre 75 240z with a ka-t or a 7m... hell, even a 1jz would be fun as hell to drive!

I might be mistaken but I believe the KA has forged pisons and such from the facory. And I would rather boost an iron block(KA) over an aluminum block(SR) any day.

Both toyota vehicles I own are a PITA to do any maintainance on.

Have you ever tried getting to the fuel filter on a mkIII? It's not easy. Luckily the fuel filter lasts longer than the rest of the car.

It took 15 minutes to find the oil filter on my 5VZ-FE... it's behind the alternator.

Sometimes i wonder what they were thinking when they decided where to put this shit. I've seen plenty of different companies do it though, Toyota isn't special. US companies are known to do it too.

It makes the simple things more interesting though, lol

I buddy that works at Audi said that their cars are purposely designed to be PITA to work on so in order to deter DIYers and small independent garages from doing the work. It makes perfect sense too.

It's a conspiracy I tells ya! ;).
