hey guys i got my car running like a champ now. i got all the water hoses tight and injectors are in order everything is good except one little leak. its behind my timing cover i dont know if its from the water pump or a freeze plug or maybe there is a gasket that could leak back there i dont know. the machine shop put the covers back on, its just a little drip like every two seconds or so but a leak non the less and i don't want to drive it till i get this leak taken care of and no i'm not putting any kind of leak stopper in it that to me is half ass and never solves the problem. so any advise or ideas or what it could be before i tear it apart please let me know thanks a bunch...

tighten the nut and bolt on the lower right of your water pump and see if that changes the flow of the leak.

if the flow changes then it could be you rear t-case. (i just got done with this job and it sucks)

first check the coolant block gasket
the hard line behind the water pump
the 90degree hose under the coolant block

you need to follow the leak as far back as you can so you can rule out as much as possible

As with any vehicle, when you work on it you HAVE to do everything RIGHT. You can't cut corners and in your head say "this will work fine" or "ill fix it later", NO. If it's not correct, don't let it go.

What would happen if you cut corners on your oil cooler lines or something similar, and a hose popped off doing 80 on the freeway?

yeah it could be worse, but when you rebuild an engine your supposed to expect this stuff to happen because it does. guess it murphy's law atleast it runs right now my timing was all sorts of fubared the exhuast cam wasn't lined up right ( i knew i should have checked that after my friend said they were timed) 150 bucks later its timed right by the toyota mechanic i know. i thought it was vacuum lines. ha i had them all hooked up right. oh well you win some you lose some. thats how i found out about the leak the mechanic tightened all my hoses and it started to leak there well its damn cold out side and i got to go and look at this leak and try and fix it let ya know how it goes later.

well i didn't get the leak fixed it started to snow like crazy every time i went outside so its going to wait a bit till it warms up in a few days i just still can't belive how this car runs i did fill it with anti freeze and drove it around the block, holy crap these things can move i was just leasurely driving it got to a little straight away and gave it just a little gas to get the turbo to spool and man was i impressed even for an automatic that was insaine for a stock motor well its .040 over but still holy crap i got this adrenaline rush and scared my wife to the point of(this is what she said) "I"M NOT RIDING WITH YOU IF YOUR GOING TO DO THAT. IF YOU DO IT AGIN YOUR SLEEPING ON THE COUCH!!!" lol it was fun
