so i got my swap done.. car runs very poor. at 1st start up idled and reved very good. test drove ran lean. had some exhaust leaks took care of that. always idled very rich so here is where i am at
the car has stock bottom end, bc 264 cams, and a single turbo upgrade, stock injectors. and no map or boost upgrades , i know it not ideal but for now just trying to get it to run half decent on stock ecu,

.. 11.0 afr at idle
.. sounds like its missing
.. have spark across all coils. also cked for cracks
.. relpaced spark plugs with new
.. unplugged the 02, and drove with it un hooked got worse pulled over to plug it back it and it never got better.
..i also had to relocat o2 when i built new down pipe
.. has 4 volt reading the vf wire at a idle
.. revs up good
.. all the invetors read about the same resitance 13.6-9
.. 180 compression across the board.
.. cked valve lash,little out but not bad , and on the loose side
.. o2 sensor may be bad reading over 1 volt


let me finish this bye saying it never really ran bad untill i tried to run with no o2. after i hooked it back up, i popped at restart and would not idle
the next day car would not start.. put in new plugs and cked coils now it runs, just very badly

never degreed the cams in just set the gears to zero.. do you have a recomedation on a starting point fot the gears?
and i think i was at 1.7 volt on the o2, pretty sure that means its bad

nope no upgrade to fuel system .. just a walbro 255. and the inside of the ecu looks fine, had me and anothe rguy look it over very close. and their is no sign of anny damage or leaks

My car was idling bad and running super rich at idle, and very lean at wot until about 5psi. Replaced the o2 sensor and now its running great. I found a denso o2 on amazon for 55 bucks ment for a 91 7mgte. It plugged right in and fixed my issues.

yup that sounds like mine. stand on the gas and it gets much better. i dont know at what boost level. due to the fact that my brand new aem tru boost reading double what it should be (bad gauge)

I can attest to this, been running the same cams on stock ECU for over 2 years of DD duty now.

ok so a update.. installd a new o2 no change. i am not leaning out when i drive any more, i had exhaust leaks. but still at 11.0 at idle. still idles horribly .

something else i for got to mention,, it deisels when i trun key off.. it dont sit and run it just dies slow instead of just turning off..i am think ing i some how skipped time.

it has a new belt. i may have a bad tensioner, they are hydralic. maybe air bubble in the system their???

i will ck timinig and if its good . i am planning on driving it saterday.

i am hoping that the ecu just needs to drive to learn, i know toyota ecu learn after 20 or 30 miles of driving . so i will give this a shot.

does anyone know what timing should be with car at idle? i will put a timing light on as son as i can

any other ideas ??? thaks again

Timing is another one of those things that can cause a motor to run funny like this. Well enough, but not right either. However, if it ran fine before, I am a bit lost as to how it wouldn't now after reading through your thread... I thought our timing belt tensioner was a spring based unit? I don't recall running any lines into it...

It really does sound like a timing issue, that or something having to do with your air intake causing it it idle like shit. Vaccum leaks, MAF, and triple check your timing maybe it jumped on you

ok not sure may have found issue. looks like my cam gears slipped. ill reset them and try it out.. and when i reshim the exhaust cams i will put the stockers back on.

if the ends up being the problem
