in the uk i can get 80 miles to around about 22 litres of unleaded. not the super unleaded stuff though. thats like over £1 per litre now
but im not too sure on this, are american litres different from uk litres? the same as a us and uk gallon are different
No, the metric system is the metric system. Our liters are the same as yours, however we still don't use them for much. Other than soft drinks and engine displacement, not much is measured in liters here. Americans as a rule dislike the metric system. Not for any good reason, it's a superior system, we just don't want to switch...
We still buy gasoline, milk, almost everything by the gallon and/or the ounce.
1 gallon [US, liquid] = 3.7854118 liters
1 gallon [UK] = 4.54609 liter
Our gallons are VERY different.
Here I get about 21 miles per gallon with my MKIII running 93 Octane. That works out to considerably better than what you are getting. I can do 80 miles on about 15 liters of fuel...
That's Super Unleaded here by the way, and it goes for about $3.50 a gallon at the moment.
That price works out to about $.93 USD per liter - at the current exchange rate that is £0.471121 GBP per liter. You people are getting FUCKED by your government with the ridiculous taxes you folks pay on fuel over there.
Gas rates are pretty much at an all time high here too. About a month ago it was $2.50 per gallon.
The MKIV's are much better on fuel, 23 - 27 MPG on the highway.
