sorry for the insane hassle, but thanks in advance for the solitary brave soul!

this is the engine. i think i might pick it up day after tomorrow.

Its usually a broken rod... or something of that nature.
You wont know until you crack the oil pan off.

and offer the dude $150 cash... lol

and if you dont know how to rebuild a motor, or dont have the experiecen/money to pay someone just sell the supra now.... and worry about a car after you get a job.

TOO bad of a rebuild... depends on if it took anything else out...

like i said, i'll sell you the rods and pistons from my 90 for pretty cheap if thats whats wrong... and seized to them might just be rod knock... you dont know until you get it home and crack it open... and you wont learn anymore by staying up all night, because then you'll be too tired anyways...

just read through the TSRM if you really want to do it yourself...

^^I'm with him.

If you have no job and sleep in the Supra (as you say you do), how the hell are you going to afford a new engine and a rebuild???????

Seriously dude, your priorities are fucked, and you still haven't learnt how to use this forum, even after all the guidance everyone has given you.

LilMiss is completely right....Get your life situated before spending any money on your supra. I'm sick and tired of seeing these threads knowing that you are making shitty decisions instead of getting everything in order.

it is all relative, don't you think?

i am perfectly fine staying with friends, or sleeping in the back of my car. it doesn;t matter to me. besides a house and whatnot is just more money i would need anyway.

why not make my car more reliable and whatnot?

You ask for advice, and now argue with the best advice you are ever going to get.

If you don't want people's opinions, stop asking for them.

Just in case someone else uses the search feature and finds this thread, I don't want them to be too frustrated. So...

Typically a seized engine will need at the least new pistons (probably oversized), and rings. While you have it apart, you might as well replace the main bearings, rod bearings, and thrust washers. It will need a significant amount of machine work, most of which cannot be determined until your machinist looks over the parts. This could include boring and honing the cylinders, cutting and polishing the crank, resurfacing the head and block, and cutting the valve seats, off the top of my head.

In my experience, engines seize when they are run too hot without oil, which could also destroy a fair bit of other parts in there... rods, valves, etc. Rods that fail tend to punch holes in blocks - mind you, any experienced mechanic will notice a hole in the side of a block.

This is not a task for a novice. Nor can the machinework be done at home, not without thousands of dollars worth of equipment and probably years in a technical school to learn how to use it.

As I recall, I spent well over $2k in machine work alone on my rebuild, and my engine wasn't seized. Add another $2k in parts, and I've got the facilities and experience to assemble my own engine.

My machine work is cost me almost $1000... and that includes full balancing...
the main cost is the fuckin valves... theres 24 valves and seats they have to grind...

parts are costing me $2000... but thats cause im building a forged motor.... knock out my forged pistons, eagle rods, and my southbend clutch my parts come down to.... 800 roughly...
