Today was UK field day welding competitions, and I've been practicing all year for this event. So, there was around 15 different counties from the region, that brought their BEST welders.
I'm not going to lie, I was nervous, but didn't really care.
We had to weld a flat bead, vertical butt weld, and a vertical fillet weld (welding upwards) with a 6011 rod. We couldn't practice, didn't have anything to lean on, and had only 12 minutes to finish, cool, clean, and organize the booth.
Well I snagged 2ND PLACE!!!
And what's great about it, is that Southside and Northside technical schools in Lexington recognized me and offered me a 100% position in the welding field.
All the hard work payed off, and once I get home tomorrow, I'll post a pic of the shiny metal, and my 2nd place welds.
Thanks to everyone here who motivated me and told me to keep going, it seriously helped me!
