Came in a little over $400

Gas or Gasless.

Seems to have a lot of options.... now tell me about the terrible purchase I just made, and how I should have bought a Miller or Lincoln.

Works very well.

With only some short practice w/o GAS I made some decent looking beads.

I then went on to joining some 2.5"SS pipe... (Eh) heheh, I tried and only about 25% of the job looks good enough to use.

So I'm going to keep trying, then maybe get some gas and switch out the reel.

(I suggest investing in a angle grinder...)

For those of you who are welders, and have used several types:

What is the real difference between the major name brands, and mine?

I've used Miller wire feed shielding gas welders before... and to me... a beginner, it's the same.

The mechanism inside all looks the same...if not identical.

Just curious that's all. :)

is the mechanism metal or plastic? Alot of the cheapoff companies use plastic components rather then metal.

Never tried gasless so can't offer any advice other then grab a can of antispatter and give the parts a good coat as this will make the finished job much prettier!
Maybe this is a "Guru- NO NO" but I just take the scraping brush to the welds after I'm done shooting them, and I think they look 10 times beter cleaned that way.

Spatter is definitely not hard with this stuff.

I come from a land down under
If you have a machined surface close by the spatter can actually weld itself there and the only way to shift it is with a grinder thus ruining the machined surface!

Just a heads up!

I think I'd put the head facing down.... as not to get spatter on the machined surface.
