Hi, im full of questions today...

When i test drove my mkIII the aircon worked and the lights under the push button controls worked..

now they dont, and pushing the buttons doesnt seem to change anything.. the blower switch does still operate correctly however and the intensity of the air coming out increases... im not sure if the temp slider is working or not tho..

is it possibly just an unclipped wiring loom? since the push buttons are not getting power?

thanks in advance

Please explain further what is wrong. What i got from this is:
-The air conditioning and the heater both worked along with the lights and everything when you tested the car
-Now, the lights don't work, but the Low Med and High buttons for the blower motor still activate and control the "intensity" of the blower
-You're not sure if the temperature slider works or not-Only problem is there is no temp slider theres buttons.

yeah thats exactly what im saying, and i have a slider for the temp not buttons...

im am wondering if there is possibly a loom that is unclipped, my line of thought is if it was working then it 'should' work now.. but the led's under the selector buttons for face, feet&face, demister, auto etc dont light up so perhaps they arent getting power? would this effect their operation? as at the moment air comes fom the face vents no matter what selection i make with the buttons... get me?

RHD vehicles have a temp slider - the climate control unit is not the same as the LHD units that we got in North America.

Try playing with the buttons, looking for one that's stuck halfway. I've seen quite a few that wear out to the point that you can't get some of the buttons to work.

yeah sorry, should have mention, its a RHD australian delivered..

i pulled the ashtray out this evening and felt up around behind incase a plug was loose and could feel movent... hard to see due to the angles but it looks like a broken circuit board from what i can see...

i will check the fuses and see if that helps, if not i am assuming its def the circuit board being snapped away from where it should be..

so for the next question:

is the circuit board attached to any replacement unit i could come across?

will a digital climate control from an imported one plug n play?

i'll pull it tomorrow and have a better look i think..

Ok, so i got a used control unit that i will put in on the weekend..

from inspecting this unit i am 75% sure the broken circuit board i can feel is what is causing the problem as all the buttons and temp slider work from this board, the fan blower speed controller is a seperate plug and a stand alone section of the unit...

there is a main circuit board (still intact on mine i think) and a secondry board linked to the main one that the pulg goes into (the broken part on mine is this secondry board from what i can see)..

if this fixes the problem then i may look into getting the broken one fixed, i have found a guy that will repair circuit boards....

my 2nd hand one has silver buttons where as the broken unit has black... i like the black better but function above form on this one unless i get the old one fixed, and sell the new one off again...

will know if its working after saturdays scheduled 'fix it' regime

cheers
