FYI if it gets shipped by air, the brokerage is way less, its normally included in the shipping cost.

That is why I like U.S. Post global express. I had a package sent this way Valued at $480U.S. I paid $80Can. Total (INCLUDING shipping and all fees) and you must pay all fees to get your package, so no one comes to collect from you Aaron.

The intercooler pipes, couplers and clamps from Driftmotion were valued at $214 . and I paid $76 Can. EXCUDING shipping, via U.P.S.

I also purchased a polisher from Cully-fawnia for $120 Fedex sent a bill a few weeks later for $54 EXCLUDING shipping.

I'd much rather pay what seems like alot at first with USPS priority. Than get the shaft later from one of the other guys. And since its air you don't have to wait forever to get it.

In regards to UPS this only applies to overnight shipping; which you are paying 2-3x as much for anyway so in the end it's all the same.

Currently I have been using US Mail Priority Post when receiving from the States.
The only time I had to pay some type of border fee was when I had it sent by air, not air/ground via US Mail.
With UPS and Fed Ex, as most people know, I have paid their border brokerage fees. It sucks!
If you are not in a hurry, write "Gift" on the package, send it US Mail ground, and watch your item come in "untouched" by the Border Patrol.
However,:icon_razz
I wouldn't write "gift" on the package if it was a big ticket item or something NEW, or like drugs etc....LOL!

!
FYI, I had some group buy Items sent to me as a gift. Customs opened the package and sealed it back up with there special customs tape and a sticker saying they had been there. That could have been trouble if a reciept was in there.

Luckily I live close to a postal depot in Point Roberts WA. I save hundreds getting all my stuff shipped there. It's open to the Canadian public, they only charge $2.50 per 50lb :)

I only have to pay tax bringing it into Canada. I've heard there's also one in Blaine too.

I really dislike this shipping bs. I had a package shipped from driftmotion it arrived 12/05/06. I found a pm dated 12/10/06 where I broke down what ups charged me.
....with a value of 201.55 and weight of 16 lbs. I paid.
$12.09 GST a federal government tax (Canada wide)
$14.11 PST provicincial sales tax (this provice only)
$47.70 Brokerage fee UPS fee
so $76.77 total

(I know it doesn't add up, but it will if you add tax to the brokerage fee)

I had it shipped to my GF's cause I was at work during the day. When it arrived the box was marked C.O.D. so CASH WAS PAID. I was given the reciept from the driver. I moved from Victoria to Edmonton not long after that.
Well it's almost six months later and I come to find out UPS's collection agency (RMS) wants $76.85. I geuss they didn't get the cash from the driver:madfawk:.
I tore the shit out of the storage lockers I'm renting, found my supra folder but no fucking ups reciept:icon_mad:
So I geuss I gotta pay those fuckers again. I wouln't be so pissed if I wasn't so sure it had already been paid to the driver. I have worked hard to build good credit and this colections crap really pisses me off.
Sorry, I just had to vent.
I geuss the moral is DON'T PAY CASH, or at least don't lose your reciept.
But even if it was paid with a CC I doubt you could go back 6 mo. to check your statments?
