I have read the numerous threads about the goliath exhaust system and how it compares to other systems.

From the HPF website, here is the decibel ratings:

HPF Goliath
10 feet away at idle: 84 dB
10 feet away at 6000RPM: 101 dB
Inside the car at idle: 75 dB
Inside the car at 6000RPM: 90 dB

From the decibel ratings posted above, what does that compare to so I can get an idea how loud it is? I have watched/listened to kwantes goliath video countless times and at idle it doesn't sound very loud at all, but 84 decibels is fairly loud... It is said this system is the loudest on the market (or close) but I have never heard it in person so I cannot say personally how loud it is. For those who own or have owned, how loud is it exactly? What about driving on the highway at 65 MPH, can you have a conversation in the car (assuming windows are up and targa is on) or is it too loud. I am VERY interested in this system and the only downfall is how loud it will be in the end. I'm not worried about how loud it is, I'm worried about passengers, etc.

I did a search and although those are good references for some people they don't work well for me. I haven't been to a rock concert for a long time, and it depends on how close you are to get the full 120 dB. I don't stand near a jackhammer nor do I own a machine gun. A subway isn't that loud though, so I guess its not too bad.

Thanks

Nate, do you want to buy me aplane ticket? Supra fest is out of question.:naughty:

I'm not worried about the noise personally. I love the sound from the video you made. I'm worried about my passengers getting annoying with it and not wanting to ride in the car. I know it's not that big of a deal, but its still bugging me.
Thanks

Same price and I will be upgrading other things in the future so I could live with the 4" overkill under I increase power numbers.

Thanks for the help.

Go to Suprafest and see for yourself ;). If you're worried about noise, I don't think you'll like it. At least its good noise :dunno:

I'm normally not a man to complain about the sound of my Supra...because hearing the turbo spool so loudly...It's amazing...
But I'm running all 3" elbow back w/ no cat going out to a HUGE old school Arospeed muffler (identical to the HKS dragger) and I've got to say, when I'm not running open-cut out, it is just wayyyy to quiet out back...
Which leads to the reason why I'm running open-cut out on a daily basis.:icon_conf
Lately, I've been thinkin about chopping this thing off, trying to sell it and then getting a different MUFFLER...I just want something that's louder.
It sounds good outback...Just not loud enough for me. :icon_bigg
Recommendations besides RS*R (always sold out) or Goliath that is mad expensive?

if you think you can live with it for a 1000 mile non-stop. Then do it. My bet is on that after 250 miles straight you will wish that you didn't ;)

i drove 400 miles both ways with no exhaust, open downpipe all the way.

i bought an exhaust...
