Ok everyone this is the beauty of the 7m. Straight six turbo remember? We generally have about the same hp as torque. Unlike V8s which usally have way more torque and unlike four bangers which always have way more hp. I say why even argue when we already have the best of both worlds. :)

keep it on topic guys.. and syst... lay off personal attacks...

either way.. a car with some more hp then torque (not a huge amount) is very fun to drive... even hp and torque figures are meh... and more torque then hp? BORRING!

How so? HP=top speed, Torque=quickness.

The thing about an engine that has more hp than torque is that the torque just doesn't drop off past 5252 rpm. It just keeps pushing you back harder and harder as you strain towards the redline. This is a great feeling compared to an initial shove followed by tapering off of acceleration. Feels like you are riding in a missile or something. :)

Stroked 7MGTE = Tourqe :)

Funny thing is on the same turbo/fuel and tuning, the engine stock made about the same rwhp at the same psi level. BUT stroked, it's making around 100ftlbs more rwtq.... So it feels faster, and it is very nice to drive around town.

Stock IIRC is 91mm stroke, with my mods, it's 97.5. The bore is just under 84mm, so pretty much stock with enough to remove any scratches when you rebuild/modify it. (Maintaining as much integrity/structure of the block as possible.)

You could go to a 85.5mm bore, with the 97.5mm stroke, and get something close to 3.4L of displacement, sure to make even more tourqe, and possibly more HP too but at the risk of breaking the block when you turn up the boost.

My 3.24L engine is fine as it stands however. (Would like quiet pistons at cold start, but can live with the "diesel" truck sound till it warms up...) Especially since it pulls like a diesel truck all the time now too. (With the top end of a typical I6, so a nice combo indeed.)

My "small" T04 based bolt on turbo is going to be changed to a medium sized compressor wheel, ebay manifold, and twin scroll hot side. (So, going to keep the BB CHRA with the stage V exducer, add a .84 divided V band housing, and go with either a 62 or similar compressor and larger compressor housing with the 4" inlet and 2.5" outlet for more flow, and hopefully not much more lag than what I have now.) Getting rid of the damn internal wastegate will be worth it all even if I just keep stick with the current 60-1 compressor and small cover I have. (3" inlet, 2" outlet, basicly same size as the CT26 cover.)

Right now, this 60-1 acts like the stock CT over 5000rpm... where on the stock engine, it pulled to redline, it's becoming restricted now on top. so I need to open it up some.:)

Adjuster, you know, I really want to see somebody make a 3.4 stroker kit for the 7m, just like the mkiv kits. Or, someone just bore + stroke the crap out of the 7m to a 3.4 themselves, go with a gt47-80mm-88mm turbo, run 40+psi, and see what happens with power and spool characteristics. Obviously, this will be done on a fully built motor along with every supporting mod in the world. God! Wait untill I get another Mkiii...
