I just watched the Tampa '05 vids again & saw a lot of MKIV's with a lot of HP, but the Torque was lacking. This made me kinda chuckle. While I respect the few that made high HP numbers (450+), I thought that the torque numbers sucked for 90% of them.

Which would you rather have, big HP numbers or loads of torque?

Why do you think IM 7M fo' lyf suckuhs? There's nothin like 503ftlbs of torque! I cant wait to hit 600+ pounds of torque... Torque moves you, hp keeps you moving... And that first 0-60 is a rush...

"Torque moves you, hp keeps you moving." You're a moron. HP is a measure of energy. Meaning horsepower never technically moves you. Torque moves you. HP is work * time. Therefore HP is a function of torque and RPM. Horsepower is not a force. Torque is a type of force, an angular force. The proper way to say it is "Torque moves you, torque keeps you moving."

What's with the attack? Anyway, torque isn't an angular force, Einstein. It's a radial force generated from an axis of rotation.

I think the 7Ms longer stroke really helps it's torque generating capability vs the 1JZ and 2JZ. Granted, they make more horse stock, but as their hp numbers rise fast, their torque numbers seem to lag behind a bit, where 7Ms horse/torque numbers usually stay relatively close. In this respect, you feel the same way about the KA24 vs SR20 decision for the 240SX crowd as you do about the 7M vs JZ guys here.
Wanna see something funny? Bore out a 1JZ to up the displacement without adding extra block height [not "stroking" to 3.0 with a 2JZ block ala 1.5JZ] and boost/tune it. I bet the hp would kick ass, especially at higher rpms, but the torque would bite the big one compared to a 1.5JZ.

keep it on topic guys.. and syst... lay off personal attacks...

either way.. a car with some more hp then torque (not a huge amount) is very fun to drive... even hp and torque figures are meh... and more torque then hp? BORRING!
