Hows the oil pickup on these motors?..

my pan appears to be slightly dented from transport and my mechanic said he thought the pickup in the 1J was high enough for the motor to be unaffected, unlike say an SR where its certain death in most cases.

advise?

the oil pickup looks like it goes right to the bottom of the pan, in the center. i wouldnt use a dented pan myself but they arent toooo much for a new one

mine is a bit dented but hardly noticeable, i watch my oil pressure all the time when i'm driving and doesn't seem to be affected...

My oil pan came dented, I told the company that I got it from, and they sent me a check that covered the expenses of ordering a new one. Mine was really bashed in, but the pickup and strainer were not touched. I still have a brand new pickup tube and baffle if you are interested.

yep thats what I thought, I didn't think these motors were temperamental with oil pickup clearances..

thanks guys, looks like I'll be fine. just watch my oil psi..

The oil pickup sits low to the bottom of the pan. Make sure it's not dented!

This one has a small dent, look how close it comes to the pickup :aigo: The pickup is bolted to the pan in those pictures.
