Lufkin,tx
hey everyone my name is martin im from lufkin, tx. i own two mk3s ones an 87 and the other one is an 89. Well i have a few questions my 87 supra works great most of the time but sometimes it wont ideal when i try to start it. but if a gas it. it sometime fixes it self. if i do get it to ideal and run the ac the next time i try to start it its a lot harder to get it to start. some people say if my fuel pump but i havent got one bc i dnt knw if thats it for sure if it is do i have to drop the tank to replace it. something else is that my heater does not work but ac works great tho. well these r my problems if anyone can help that would b great or if anyone wants to show off there car i love seeing fixed up motors and asking how they got that way

ideal(ly) we prefer you to post a more specific topic, like, "89 wont idle (ideal) worse with ac on"

if you have 2 supras im sort of amazed how you dont know how common the heater valve problem is...its a vacuum style valve on the mid/passenger side of the firewall with coolant lines running to it (sort of a pod looking thing) check the vacuum routing to it.

as for idealing issues, you should check for vacuum leaks, broken intake hose after the air flow meter (if it sucks air behind the meter it throws the calibration off and idles weird)

theoretically it could be a fuel issue but you always check simplest/cheapest things first...atleast for a good newbie's process of elimination.

also, with a quick browse around the forums im surprised how you missed this link...its the service manual and it goes a long way when diagnosing problems, like the ones you stated. this is now your best friend...also if you have an android device they have a free app of this manual, its a little different but when in a bind it works great.
