1 wire solenoids in a 340 the 341 has a few 2 wire pwm solenoids.

pwm solenoids??? to do what? all ive ever seen is turning things on and off. i didnt know there were things inside these trannies that need to be "sort of" turned on and off. lol

lol suze... they dont make'em like they used to.

IJ, the line pressure i could imagine trying to modulate line pressure independant of Throttle position. that could be considered an improvement over the previous model tranny. however, the TC lock circuit... thats just retarded. is the purpose behind tht to soften the engagment of the clutch? short of that, i couldnt imagine anyone wanting LESS than full pressure on the TC lockup circuit.

Chris: Yep agreed but that's what they've done....

My workaround is to let the SSv4 do the On/Off signal into the MoTeC then it outputs the PWM signal to the TC Lock I just haven't got around to working out how much it needs.

The Line pressure is a PWM Bleed so it's 100% line pressure with no solenoid then you up the % to lower the pressure. (works perfectly)

I think it's all been done to makes shifts invisible to the driver unless it's at WoT.

oh wow... sounds semi-complicated. im curious how much TQ the clutch can handle when its locked up. i know guys in the diesel crowd have put down 800rwtq thru a single-disc converter when locked up.

the line pressure solenoid makes alot of sense like that... just a confort thing. however, that really made me curious; an ex-friend of mine installed a 1JZ automatic from my Ex-girlfriend's swap into his 88 7mgte car. it actually works pretty well. one thing i noticed (not sure if this was on the 7m or the 1j tranny), his boost spiked from 10psi to 14psi on the upshifts and his car would hit fuel cut. has that ever happened to anyone on a 7M tranny or is that the result of the 1jz tranny in the ma70 w/o the line pressure bleed enabled?

hmm... the shifting didnt seem to be unreasonably harsh for full line pressure but its been so long since ive been in the car. and i dont forsee being in it ever again... since he started banging my exgf behind my back when i thought her and i were reconciling. lol

what do you know about that 3rd solenoid? is it mysterious in origin and vague in function? lol

btw, 240psi, HOLY crap... the tranny on my diesel truck peaks at 110psi and goes into limp mode over that! what i wouldnt give for that line pressure at 1500rpm!!

LOL mine was cranking (300rpm) at 200 Psi before I set up the PWM ;)
(that was the big give away that it's a bleed)

I 'believe" the extra solenoid is a shift quality thing and my Trans guy said Not to hook it up. (only downside he said was the trans may hunt a little on part throttle downshifts so we'll see and the beauty of using a SSv4 is I can tune that out of it does it)

... thats insane. maybe its some kind of secondary line pressure bleed for the accumulators? like you said, to soften the shifts w/o severely changing the load on the front pump by modulating the entire line pressure circuit itself. that way, once the bands engage, the line pressure is already there in the apply circuit. that 3rd solenoid just stays closed and goes back to full pressure?
