oh i see. i dont care enough about autos to search threw the tsrm(which i guess i should have). i searched threw the epc and did not find any difference between clutch packs but again i do not like autos so having actual facts maybe even a sticky as this comes up often might be a good idea.

Not sure how the EPC lists the parts, but the 7M-GTE simply uses an additional disc & clutch plate in the locations I linked. They are the same disc/plates used on the GE, just another set of them. When I ordered Ian's rebuild kit from IPT, I made sure they were included. IPT uses heavy duty clutch plates in their kits vs OEM.

Too bad you don't like autos...makes the car really a joy to drive with a lot of HP under the hood. ;)

I'm finding each new thing I learn pushes something older out ;)

So that is why I keep loosing things from my limited storage space of a brain....

That is the best thing I have seen posted here in weeks :aigo:

"Virtually indestructible" are the actual words used concerning the clutch plates when I talked to those guys.

Yep that's why I'll shift cut the 1>2 change now as well, very interested to see what condition it's in when I tear it down as in the old days (last time I used an auto behind a turbo car back in the 80's) I had huge problems getting them to live.

That's why I was using the Tremec this time as I just didn't trust an auto with this amount of power.

From what I've seen, the sprags are the weak link...I'm really interested to see if the A340 is going to hold (I think it will).

Shift cut and unlocking the converter on shifts "should" remove the shock loads on the sprags <fingers crossed>

I don't think I'll make enough power to tear up parts just on torque so it should be cool.

i have had auto's in my life 1 being a neon while my suprawas down to get me to school and my nova, botb of which i thinkwould be more fun to drive if a manual. imo manual's are more fun to drive than auto's. everyone is different. you posted the links i looked threw them and they showed different pics and of the parts of the auto tranny's. i was never saying anyone was wrong. i think that just actuall full pics taken by people other than a epc/tsrm with a sticky showing that the turbo a340e are different than the other 340e that have been used in 10+ cars would be good knowledge for everyone.

Didn't know that Jeff! I always assumed they were the same (there's that word again).
Do you know what the difference is?

All one would have to do is read the auto tranny section of the TSRM and the main differences become obvious (there's even pictures). A sticky in this case would only be a repeat of something that is already well documented. The different part numbers for the clutch plates is good to know though.

from one not even caring about the auto and knowing well about the many many usefl info from the tsrm, i still think there should be a all in one sticky thread here about the auto as i have seen about 10 threads on both sites about the differences between the 2 and just a link to give to people who care about having auto with more than just wat the tsrm says(as its limited to what everyone wants to know) would be more useful. the tsrm is very useful and i have 2, 1 a 87 and 1 a 88 and i, if ever, very rarley look at them since i have the online one. but often times people can find pics off the tsrm or epc that could take hours even if you find it at all but as soon as you see the link its like wtf how could i nopt find this.(please excuse my grammer i know its a run on.)+ there are the people that dont even lookat the tsrm like the noobs. ive looked threw the tsrm and epc for a long time and still have trouble finding certain pcs even tho ive been looking threw it for 3 years.

im not questioning anything your saying im just saying maybe there should be a thread like the n/a-t sticky where it shows every there is to do a n/a to t project in 3 diff way but with all the diff info there is for the autos and the same auto has been used for 2 decades.

Not exactly sure what you're trying to say, but by all means, feel free to create one...I'll personally put it in the articles section ;)

i would post a thread about this but i dont know enough about this. im not trying to start a argument about this and they way i read it, i think you may think i am. i just think that a sticky about all the info about the difference between the n/a and turbo auto should be a sticky. there are a ton of people that would like to know the info about this and it would be better to just provide 1 link to it than 10 links to the search.
