so im trying to figure out how to install thse wrist pin clips in my JE pistons. They dont have the holes like the stockers to to use that tool. What do i need to use to get these in??

I start one end where I want the gap to be then use a piece of aluminium to push it in starting at the end that's in already and working around.
Just did these on my Wisecos, my fingers were sore afterward. Not sure if there is any truth behind this or not, but I saw a few people recommending that the gap either be at 12 o clock or 6 o clock to reduce the chance of inertia popping them out. Seems far fetched but maybe IJ could shed some light on that. I put mine in with the gaps toward the 2 oclock position because I didn't read about this until after I had installed them.
I install mine so the open gap is just past the notch in the piston as this allows you to get a pick under the end of the wire so you can remove them

I think the idea was that if the gap is in the 3 oclock position inertia at high piston speeds (when the piston changes direction) could cause the clip to compress and potentially come out, but ya seems extremely unlikely.

The Pins I use have a chamfered end and that helps force the clips into their groove unlike flat ends which sometimes hammer the clips out.

I think you just dont want both sides to have the gap at the same spot. Also having the gap near the notch(es) for simplicity. Just what I've heard.
ok so i got the one clip in like you said IJ, but i just cant seem to get the other one in when the pin is in there. Its so tight, its almost like it wont fit. But i know it will. my fingers are so sore!! lol

Try giving the end of the pin a tap with something soft (wood or an aluminium bar) so it seats against the installed clip.
ahh good idea. Ya i tried just pushing it with my thumb to move it just enough to get one end of the clip seated, but my thumb wasnt strong enough. I will certainly try that.

You da man IJ!! Lol worked perfect, tapped the pin a lil with a wooden stick and it seated more. Got the other clip in.

Quic question so I dnt start another thread, but which way do eagle rods face? Does the eagle point forward or the serial number side?
I'm not sure off of the top of my head, but do you still have the paperwork that came with the rods? You might be good either way, but in many cases you do want to make sure you have them facing correctly.
No I got the eagles in my motor I bought. Last time I rebuilt it the eagle was facing the back, so I guess I'll just do it that way.

I'll check tonight, but I oriented the rods the same way the stockers were in referance the the bearing indents. iirc the indented ends faced the intake side of the engine, but don't put them in until I confirm that.
As for the clips, I cut grooves into 2 old valves and used my chin on a screwdriver to install them just like you would with your fingers (my fingers stopped working after 3 pistons) The end gaps were in the 6 o'clock position.

Aren't the oil feed for each bearing suppose to line up and be on the same side? For example, if the mains oil hole is one the left, all the rod bearing feed holes belong on the left?
With the rods, the holes in the bearing don't matter with eagle rods. The oil is coming from the inside crank not from outside the bearing like the mains. On stock rods there was a squirter hole that lined up with the bearing hole, but that doesn't exist on the eagles.
