So I blew my head gasket today. I can change the head gasket but I think i might want to sell it.

Its a 1987 turbo, manual transmission. The block is bored out .40 over, it has JE forged pistons, 550cc fuel injectors, 255 lph walboro fuel pump, stock turbo bored out with 60-1 internals, SAFC II, Greddy boost controler, 3" HKS down pipe, 3" exhaust all the way back (no cats), front and rear tien coilovers, front and rear suspension techniques sway bars, 18" gun metal mustang wheels.

I was wondering how much you guys think I should ask for my car if I sold it private party and fixed the head gasket.

pics will tell if its a 1k car or a 6k car. dyno sheets and any problems would help, history on the car is important too

I would say part it out. You may do better that way with those mods. Please, please don't do a crap repair, and pawn it off on some unsuspecting person. If you fix the gasket, do it right! go with a metal, and prep BOTH surfaces before slapping the head back on with ARP studs. You may also want to freshen the bottom end, as your bearings have now been coated in water. Either way, keep or sell it with a good head gasket job. Or, sell it unrepaired to someone who will do it right.

The underlying question here is why did it blow the hg? With those mods I HAVE to assume it already had a metal gasket and ARP's...if not that was really foolish, if so, why did it blow? Warped head? annealed? poor prep?

With those possibilities the price would have to be lower as it sits, and/or may cost more to put it back running for sale. Please dont slap a stock gasket on there and pawn it off as Scott said. Without more info I would say you wont get more than 2k whole as it sits and could double that parting it out.

It did have a metal head gasket and ARP's. The head gasket blew cause the radiator had a slow leak and it overheated yesterday (the hotest day of the year) on my way home from work. Im trying to find the pics to post up still. But the exterior is in good condition. Good paint, no dents. Interior is ok. leather seats are not in good condition but i have seat covers on them. Other than the seats the interior is fine. Ill keep trying to find the pictures though.

if done right, he could ask 4k... but he better have a good interior. and its an 87... if you want to sell it faster than sell it for 3k and im sure it would be gone fairly quick.
