whats the limit of our TB units? do you need bigger then 550 injectors and a single walbro to run the Q45 TB or would 550's+1walbro be ok?\

I'm at aprox 400-450ish RWHP now and would like to work my way up to 550-600 some day.

We've done 675whp on a stock TB on HiPsi's car.....Not that its ideal for that, but just saying its been done....

in the interim, would 400-450hp, 16psi with 550's and 1 walbro on a Q45 with 2.5" hardpipes be overkill? would cruisng with a q45tb on the highway @ 40hp or whatever or other daily driver conditions cause problems?

It wouldn't hurt anything, but it probably wouldn't gain anything either. The TB is not really going to be a restriction. Throttle body upgrades are more helpfull on NA engines.

The founder of Toyotmoto made over 500 rwhp in the early 90's with bolt on power and tuning. Like Mike Malloys car.

If you are not racing, I do not see the point of it.

At least 5 people in recent history were in the upper 600s with a regular throttle body and manifold.

However, I have yet to see a 700+ on stock intake manifold, so I would have to say that 699 would be the most you can do unless someone proves that wrong.

IMO, a the throttle body upgrade is one of the last things that needs to be upgraded when going for big power. A good turbo, exhaust, intercooler, fuel system, and engine managent should be the top prioreties. Upgraded throttle bodies fall in the same catagory as FF intake manifolds, upgraded cams, head work; The mods that aren't going to do much until you really start pushing it.

I have all that stuff. The main reason I want to get the upgraded TB is because I'm going to get a FFIM within the next few months, and I figured I might as well get the bigger TB and not have to redo it again later down the line if I ever shoot for 600+hp, that's all.

Will Neely here in ATL made 733 RWHP with the stock manifold. The stock manifold/tb is not a restriction for most people.

while it may be doable, that doesnt nec mean it is ideal. some people said if you are less than 700hp 3" is plenty and no gain going to 4".
contrastly, eric v did 621rw on a lex afm. sure it can be done, but i would have liked to have seen a vpc put on and what difference there was.
all i am saying is just because something CAN be done doesnt mean you CAN'T gain hp by changing it out.

this is very true and something that should be in the froreground of every builders mind!

i am going for about the 400 mark and don't feel a FFIM is nec right now...

the most important thing to remember is that speed cost ALOT of money....if you somehow get the power you want real cheaply....you'll no doubt pay for it in the end..... :?
