Can anyone tell me how much new ignition coils for a 7MGTE are from the dealer?

I really should replace one of mine because one of the terminals for a plug wire is rusted out for some strange reason.

Can't help you on the price Frank but the strange reason is very likely O3, which is a potent oxidizer. It's generated by corona discharge caused by the ionization of O2 when arcing occurs across connections in high voltage systems exposed to air. A fairly common problem actually. Probably more about plasma physics than you wanted to know but hey, I don't get the chance to use this stuff often ;)

Thanks jet.

Its the coil with cyl 5's terminal, and it looks very bad. All other coil terminals look brand new. Definately bought the car 2 years ago like this.

I do not want to modify the ignition system, its good enough from the factory for what I use the vehicle for, so I'm not wiring up MSD coils.

I'm sure someone had to buy one from the dealer, maybe someone will chime in.

Just get a second hand unit in good condition I'm sure someone on here must have 1 or 2 lying about.

According to the EPC they are $142 each

Frank's the guy who refused to buy anything but a spankin' new AFM from the dealer. Coils are chump change ;)

Wow just wow, could have got the whole MAFT pro setup for that sort of change.

Yeah that's right. I'm not about hackin into harnesses on my car.

Retail was $141 out the door for one, with my 20% off I paid $113. Shit, at that price I'm probably going to replace them all eventually.

Thanks for the responses.

What, its my fault I work hard and get paid?

It's so nice to have the OPTION. My wife's Explorer was broken into last week, the thief busted out the driver's side lock, destroying the lock cylinder and doing some damage to the door panel at the same time.

We took it in to Ford to be fixed today, turns out half the parts are discontinued, so they had to Frankenstein it together.

How old is the Explorer, you ask? 1996.
