No need to be embarrassed...just lurk the for sale section and eBay for a 3" CAT back. Probably be able to pick a good one up pretty cheap :naughty:
LouKY said:I just finished my KS rewire thanks to Shaeff's rewire kit and expected to see my boost come up beyond about 7psi max but didn't see much of any improvement. Here are my mods:
1. Apexi intake
2. Custom 3" elbow
3. Custom 3" downpipe
4. Magnaflow 3" Hi Flow Cat
5. 2.5" Flowmaster Delta 50 Muffler (to knock the noise down for the wife. :icon_conf )
6. Bosch 110 BPV
Given these mods, shouldn't I have pegged the stock boost gauge? I was really expecting to see 9 to 11 psi. Sound like something's wrong to you guys? If so, where should I start looking?
Oh yeah, check engine light is off so I believe I should be code free.
jdub said::withstupi The operative word here is "slight"...and Nick, you're not stupid
On a stock CT26 (not shimmed or no MBC), the most boost I ever saw was ~6 psi...the intake, Defcon downpipe, and 3" CAT back exhaust on my former set-up did increase it "slightly".
jimi87-t said:On mine, (full 3" DP and cat back w/dump, custom intake w/Apexi filter, FFIM, 2.5 IC pipes, large real-SPEARCO core bar and plate IC, stock rebuilt CT26 w/NO boost controller, NO shimming of the WG, [see my build for details]) I'm hitting between 10-11 psi. So you can see more than "slight", but I don't think it can happen with the stock layout.
jdub said:Read his 1st post...we were talking about a basic set-up. Your set-up is far from basic I'm pushing 20+ psi out of a SP61 with upgraded intercooler & hardpipes...that's why I didn't use mine as an example...apples vs oranges.
jdub said:Boost on a stock CT26 is controlled by the wastegate actuator, so unless you shim it or install a boost controller, boost is going to be in the 6-8 psi range.
...and then hit fuel cut!!!:icon_mad:drjonez said:not sure how any of your mods would increase boost....stock boost = 6.8 psi. sounds like you've got a good working WG....get a MBC and crank it up!
go and slap your welder, and demand your $ back :biglaugh: ... i was able to do my exhaust w/ out a hitch... in my friends front yard... the muffler on my car is mounted where the "test pipe" would go, or at the end of the downpipe... there's plenty of room :-/LouKY said:Joel - I will check codes tonight and see what shows up. As for the muffler, I allowed myself to be talked into a 2.5" muffler by the dingdong who sold it to me. He was convinced he couldn't hang it under the car right with 3" pipes. Since then I've come to my senses and I'm a little irritated with myself for listening to him - of course there are 3" muffler that are hung up under the car in the right place, but I wasn't thinking at the time. :nono: Next year I'll make it right - just as soon as my 5 speed swap is done.
92Turbo - I am auto - for now. I haven't seen any spikes - just a steady 7 psi. I'm thinking of building a boost leak tester, but I thought a leak would throw a CEL. Based on what Joel said, I will run codes and see if anything comes up.

supra90turbo said:IDK... I've seen numerous people gain boost pressure simply by putting a DP/elbow combo, one piece DP, or DDP on.
