Hey,
So I see that a lot of people on here have 5spds but I was wondering how many of us have automatics. Most people on here seem to want to do a auto to manual conversion. Anyway if you have a automatic please post the mods you have and the times you have had. If you have a automatic do you plan on doing the manual swap?

My first one was a 1989 N/A, auto. My current two, are a 5 speed turbo, and another 1989 N/A auto, that I bought as a tribute to the first one.

No mods to the automatic. No plans to swap to manual. Current best time is 10 ft, in just under 1 month. Transmission is currently unhappy, so I've had to push it around my driveway a little.

But my personal opinion....is that I've enjoyed how both the auto and manual perform, and wouldn't think about switching them in either direction. They're fine the way they are. In my opinion. :icon_bigg

What is the cost to rebuild the toyota tranny? This would be a JZ auto, not the 7m one. Not sure how much difference is between them.

as long as the gears are in ok cond, not much just new valve bodys and celanoids seals. sensors..

I am a bit higher. 67mm on a 2j, so I should be 490 + on pump. I dont think the stock tranny will hold that will it?

I have a JDM 1jz and have been playing with the idea of putting an automatic, or even possibly a 5 sp on a paddle shifter. Anyone played with this idea?

Can't drift well with an auto...

From a roll, the standard will get the jump as the auto has a delay to downshift.

I like hitting the twisties, and rowing the gears, so I'm a bit biased, but I know I'd lose from a dead stop...

That's just my personally experience...

Not saying it's fact in all situations, but just what I've experienced.

I like to downshift hard to enginebrake, cut the wheel, hit the gas going sideways, pulling it back in and slamming the next gear.

I dunno, I just love that experience when driving hard, I'd miss that too much...

Yes it moves, but it's not the same...

You can't pop the clutch to kick the ass out...

Yeah, you can do neutral drops, but we all know that's not good for a tranny...
