my '87 Turbo has just turned 70K miles, completly stock, purchased it with 59K a year and a half ago...its been very reliable. I had an 86.5 for 6 years ending with 136K miles and it was pretty reliable besides an intermittant starting problem which I believe was tied to the factor anti-theft system.

Bone stock 110k miles when I bought it in May '03. Currently 165k miles, they haven't been easy miles, 3 clutches and two turbos. Never got BHG as I replaced the OE with another Toyota HG and ARPs at 12xk miles. Motor has a little valve tick, but still runs like a top.

88 with roughly 220k KM's. When I got it there was 200k. I replaced all the seals, the head gasket, every fluid, $2000 in body work/paint, suspension and other things that needed attention.

The car is my daily in the months without snow and is stored during the winter. I've never had it leave me stranded ever. I attribute this to the particular way I do constant maintenance. This car will never break down if I continue to fix things before they go South.

I have recently completed my first round of mods...basically what you mentioned in the first post. Even with the additional stresses on the car, there have been no problems to report.

If you do the maintenance, any car can be reliable.

i've probably put around 15k miles on my 86.5 turbo swap. aside from when i first got it running after the swap, most of that has been with the accelerator buried in the floorboard.

Bought my '87 n/a in early 2000 with 204,000 km's, today it has 297,000 km's. 10,000 mi./yr. isn't that much, but it is my dd. Aside from a headgasket, water pump and clutch, all the rest has been elective. (My '88T is another story entirely). Gl with your new ride!

My Supra is my DD and I put about 3000-3500 miles on it a year. It currently has 206k on it...I drive it gently about half of the time, the other half is moderate boosting...car is stock BTW. Replaced factory headgasket a week after buying the car, cause it blew in typical 7M fashion.

whoa whoa whoa newwest and sawbladz, he asked for MILES not KILOMETERS. lol jk some good stuff comes from canada ( ithink thats where it said u were from, if not im sorry)

mine has about 103k miles, think the headgasket has blown with previous owner, but not sure. good cars just throw in a good MHG and head studs at 90 pounds and your good to go. turbo will wear eventually, specially if u let the oil get down, blew original and a rebuilt already, o well i learned my lesson. head gasket, turbo and preventative maintenance and your good for close to 300 k IMO
