correct me if im wrong you prep the car
spray the base coat with some kind of protective coating right?
spray 1st coat dry repeat 3x
spray flake
then clear ?x
then buff?
this may sound stupid to some1 who knows what they are doing so be warned ^^ plz feel free to correct me if im wrong
*The clear IS the protective coating.
*First coat you don't really dry, just spray it lightly. You don't want to get your base-coat "shiny" wet, just wet enough to lay flat.Maybe 3x,maybe7x,I recommend to go until you THINK it's covered, then apply one more coat.
*The flake is actually dry,I recommend you get a clear binder,(essentially a clear base coat)to mix the flake with,It's a lot more forgiving than using regular clear.
*If you spray the flake in the jambs,I suggest you spray the flakes in the jambs first, mask them off, then spray flake on the outside, unprep jambs and clear all at once. This will keep you from having more flake along door seams than the rest of the car.
*Probably 3-4 coats of clear for the size of flake I think you want,if it looks or feels a little rough when it dries, sand clear w/400-600 grit, and apply two more coats of clear. You MAY be able to skip buffing if you re-clear.
*edit on an earlier post,sherwin-williams basecoat is ultra7000
