Might have to drive the car without power steering for awhile because my rack is leaking. I was wonder how long do you think the Power steering pump can last without fluid? I could drive my daily car yeah but I really need to get the supra some hours to find all the other little problems with it.

Take the power steering belt off, fill the rack with fluid and cap it off. Drive as long as you like.

Been there done that. Had to drive My old N/A like that for 2 months waiting on parts and being lazy.:biglaugh:

When I put my 1jz in, I didn't hook the pump up but I left the belt on it, and it spun dry for ~8k miles. When I finally hooked it up and filled it with fluid, it worked fine, but it whines from time to time. That could be from running dry for so long or it could have already been bad, who knows.

...I'd say you're taking a chance by running it dry.

I dont care about the rack. its leaking so badly you can pour some fluid in and it will drip out the sides just like that. Its the pump I care more about.

I have a good rack came out of my 91 with PPS, pm me if interested.

I was poking fun at him for thinking we were talking about 7Ms with separate belts :)

Lol, I never noticed I was in the 1JZ section. I just went into new posts to see what was up.

Oh well, my bad. Just another reason the 7M is better than the 1J. :sarcasm::runaway:
