how long do mk3 turbos last?

how many miles will the typical turbo mk3 run? im thinking about trading my 200000 mile n/a 88 for an 87 turbo with 175000. i was planning on doing an engine swap probably in the summer but because i want to build it up and the w58 cant handle more than like 350hp (? i think?) im thinking it might be better just to do this trade for the turbo which is in not as good condition but already has the r154 tranny that can hold more power...

i know that might sound kinda confusing but does anyone want to weigh in with their opiinions?

Honestly if your car has a better shell I would much rather keep it than a car which is needing body work.

186,000+ here and the car runs beautifully. By the way... that is 186,000+ on the original turbo and original HG. The only part that has failed is the clutch.
