Just go single. You can do it for less than a grand now with the DriftMotion CT-26 single kit. If I were staying 1jz, I'd buy a blown CT-26 for $50, send it to get rebuilt for $500, and buy that single kit for $375. There you go, $885. You need a 7m down pipe though, but you can find those cheap.

With what I have heard about stock twins, this would be a no brainer decision for me.

OK, so your saying go cheap $885 minus downpipe and IC pipes to connect.

So, why not just get a ebay T4 manifold for $120, and a used 60-1 off Supraforums for $500(new for that much even), and make some oil lines for $100.

You can have the same setup, with ALOT better turbo, and alot nicer looking manifold for $720.

With that extra $150 you saved, you can invest in JDM 440cc injectors and put down 400whp on pump gas, compared to 280 with the more expensive CT26 "upgrade"

Yes he does. I hadn't looked into other options. I've only been a jz owner for about a month, and back in the Supra game for as long. But in his example with the ebay manifold, we still need the IC and the down pipe. :naughty:

Ric forgot to mention with this "kit" he is recommending you will need a wastegate, custom downpipe, v-band clamp, etc...
Plus like Jag said, you still need custom ic piping.

T4 1jz manifold for $120 shipped? Show us where to get that Ric.
"Buy a used turbo off of Supraforums" How does that compare to a fully rebuilt turbo?

Let's compare apples to apples.

Plus, my ct26 manifold is not a "280whp" setup, it made that at 11psi, untuned, on a new 1jz swap. We'll see what it does at 17psi with a good tune.

Theres alot of options in the world Aaron. You can't market your product as the win all setup. If i had a stock twin car, and didn't want big power levels, i'd be all OVER your setup. The beautiful look of a single setup, with equal power levels and reliability of the stock twins (when they dont blowup) without the need for an aftermarket fuel system.

280whp is about on par with a good running stock twin setup at the same boost. I made 292whp on factory boost twins (no boost controller).

Of course it is not the only option, and probably not the best way to go for everybody, but he didn't ask for your opinion on a T4 turbo kit, he said he likes my setup. You not only want to talk him out of it, but you are severely underestimating the cost and difficulty of putting together a T4 turbo kit. I have built enough turbo kits to know what is involved, in great detail.

I'm just going to swap in a fresh pair of twins courtesy of T701JZ. Driftmotion's CT26 setup is ideal for someone who is doing a 1J swap because they will already have almost every part needed. Hell, if they have a 3" DP already then they just saved atleast $300 between the 3" turbo elbow and 3" DP. For someone like myself, it will be over a grand in parts, depending on how cheap I get the turbo and DP for. Driftmotion's CT26 conversion is quite beautiful, but not for everyone.

good luck with the fresh swap...here's my thing like most of us twins that have never done it before...who the !f..k! cares how long it takes to remove the damn thing just take your time and do it right and don't rush it. If it takes you 2 or 8 hours so be it. just my 2 cents.

45mins start to finish?

A typical newbie timing belt swap, not for your experienced version :)

If he brings the car down we will have the turbos swapped in a couple of hours. It is not a big deal. Doing it the first time was pretty crazy, but you get used to it after a while and it is just another thing like changing rotors or injectors.

The first time I changed a CT26 with no TSRM, no internet, and some basic tools it took ALL DAY start to finish. If you take your time and are patient, these things can be done.

Unlike the rest of you guys, I don't have the ability to park my car where I live. I have to park my car 15 miles from where I live due to a base suspension. Otherwise I'd do it myself. The other problem is that I only get 1 day off a week because I work 2 jobs.
