How! I blow up one core plug from the side of the exhaust side?

Guys yesterday I went to the race track!, is my second time, I’m very impressive with the 7MGTE power WoW, I was thinking to buy a new turbo, but now I adjust the boost to 14psi :aigo: , and what a difference!.

Good think :evil2: : Very good to feel the speed and the adrenaline

Bad think :cry: : I blow up one core plug from the side of the exhaust side of the block.

How could this happened :cry:, How! I blow up one core plug from the side of the exhaust side:1zhelp: .


Now I need to change all fo then to oivd it happend again!

are you positive it was a soft plug?when i was at the track and got coolant every where it was from bhg..

but either way, these car's are a blast and have some good power!

Are you sure it's not just the 90 degree rubber coolant hose behind the water pump? Make 100% sure a freeze plug came out because unless you really f$cked it up during rebuilding, I've never seen a freeze plug 'just come out'.

yeah, check the 90* hose behind the waterpump and the 90* hose on the back of the head....i blew the back one at the track and couldnt figure out where it was leaking to save my life...btw, the back one is a pita to change, long needle nose pliars are your friend.

if your hoses are old then check the coolant cap on the back of the block, the 90 degree hose like everyone else said, possibly even the heater hose. however it could easily be a freeze plug. did the car piss or is it just leaking? and yes they can just "pop out", especially if its not a toyota freeze plug.

Belivet or not:aigo: , the freeze plug 'just come out', Today I leave the car with and other mechanic, and I have the freeze plug that come out!, AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!:icon_mad: , the first stupid mechanic don’t install it right, now I need to remove the engine and change it all to ovoid it happened again, this really sucks.

I was thinking to buy a new turbo, suspension or tires, but now I will fix it my car:cry: .

Couple of things could be the cause

Imperial size Plug

If the mechanic "tapped it in with a lot of little strikes instead of 2>3 big ones" This can slowly compress the plug as it goes in removing the crush fit it's meant to have.

I use a socket 1 mm smaller than the ID of the plug coat it with Permatex #4 and have an extension bar I keep for doing this,a few gentle taps to get it started square then a couple of good whacks and I've never had a plug pop out.

Yep! Use Toyota plugs...I had the exact thing happen as well. Front plug, exhaust side blew out. Coolant every where...in a very short time!

I've blown out two. In my case they were Doorman that my machine shop fitted "close enough".

Same here...Doarman plugs are english diameter. Toyota plugs are the only way to go.

IJ, I can't find any mention anywhere online of permatex #4, only #1,2, and 3. Are you sure its #4? Here is the permatex website showing what I think they currently have...

i use 40mm shallow plugs with aviation forma gasket and have never had any fall out

Could it be Permatex® Super “300” Form-A-Gasket® Sealant? At least here in North America, I cannot find any reference to a #4 or #5.

God, everyone talks about how quick their 7mgte is, i don't see it in mine. I think something is wrong with my turbo, feels like it dies up top. My twin turbo 300zx puts my supra to shame and from my boost controller on my supra im at 14 lbs. Something has to be wrong.
