What do you have in the car right now, that isn't stock, and what have you removed?

That was from a long time ago. A lot has changed with the car since then. That was on sawblades with stock suspension, it was missing the rear half of the exhaust and the front bumper cover, I think everything else was there. Still had bumper supports and HVAC stuff. I forget how much gas was in the car.

Since then, we saved about 20lbs with the coilovers, I don't think we saved more than a couple pounds with the wheels, but they're 2.5" widers and look a million times cooler, so I don't care. We lost 600lbs when we got rid of the 7m and all associated stuff. I'm not exactly sure how much the new setup is going to weigh. I'm remaking the bumper supports out of something lighter. Cage will add some weight, but it's necessary.

But like Kevin said, shooting for under 3000 with the cage and race ready.

Mine weighed in at 3940 with me in it so the car weighs exacalackly 3740lbs. I've added leather seats, dynomat and a speaker box in the back for the extra weight.

Can people post some good weight saving methods that they have used. I think a good post on weight savings would be helpful.

Depends on how much you want to do. If you want to save a decent amount of weight without doing too much work or stripping anything out of your car, get some sweet seats and replace the stock lead filled ones. And then depending on what else you want to do with the car, you can save a lot of weight.

Don't worry Nash, I've got some tricks up my sleeve. I think we'll be saving enough weight on the motor alone to account for the whole cage and gussets, assuming 100-120lbs for the cage itself. And if you count all the sheet metal that isn't needed anymore with the cage, I"ll be saving even more. Redoing the bumper supports will save some weight. And then all the other little stuff. Rewiring the car should cut out about 30lbs. I might be a little optimistic, but it will happen and it shouldn't be that hard.

^^thats what one of my winter projects was. i went through every single wire and if it led to nothing or i didnt need it, it came out. i forget what it weighed, but between the wires and relays and all the other electrical garbage, the heater system and more sound deadner, lets just say it was worth it for a summer car. even excluding the benefits of removing all the weight, i just feel better having everything simple. if i don't need it/use it, why should i keep it in to just have it be in my way?

where do you guys get your cars weighed?
