How about this for a Pursuit Car....

Lol - our police force doesnt NEED to carry guns for pursuit work. Besides, usually, the div driving the car away from the police usually stacks into a wall and gets carted off in an ambulance ;)

Should they actually get out though - units ahead do the actual arresting.

Back in the 80's & 90's, the Met police used to use REAL cars to catch people. Tons of Rover SD1 V8's (bored from 3.5 to 4.2litres, manual gearboxes), Sierra RS Cosworths & Sapphire Cosworths, Escort Cosworths and later, Mondeo ST200's. Most forces now though use BMW 525tds Diesels though :/

Good to finally see a lambo - shows that the force is starting to think about better cars ;)

Whoever approved spending that kind of money for a police car should be thrown in jail, themselves. Waste of taxpayer money IMO.

I was thinking the same thing. What happens when they try the PIT manuever????

Actually most 'pursuit' cars are Volvo T5R Estates (Wagons) or BMW 525tds - and the drivers got into a habit of using the PIT when it wasnt necessary to do so when there were units up the road with stingers, and as a consequence, they'd write off the cars, or cause £1000's of damage to the car, and they billed the taxpayer for something like 8million quids worth of repairs and written off vehicles, and the govt went ballistic and ordered the police federation to change their regulations with regards to PIT's.

They can only be done when given the direct order to do so by a regional commissioner, at which point its HIS arse on the line.

Similar things apply for the armed units SO10 and SO19 (SpecOps), if they shoot someone dead, theres no 'in the line of duty' crap, they actually have to go through murder trial proceedings. Of course, 99% of the time its justified and under orders, but it still hampers efforts to bring the out of control situation in this country under control once more (like it was in the 80's under the iron fist of the conservative govt).

Owned... Why the heck you need such cars? It's goddamn dangerous to pursuit cars at high speeds. Spikes do the job without harming anyone...
Like here, noone bought spikes from my father, the police just wanted to pursuit and shoot tires on the streets!! (my father once saw a goddamn truck being pursuited and shot at, and that was scaaaary, look how many people could die!)

let them hit 200 mph and fly there damn lambos off a cliff, thats the kind of thing that would make me want to wreck my car into the lamborgini for fun. there is no logical reason for a police officer to have a lambo

Well, we do use stingers/spike strips - but a lot of the time, they escape onto a motorway and its deemed too dangerous to use them, so the high speed pursuits are for a) getting there in time b) tailing them to make sure they dont get out of range should a police chopper not be available and c) trying to 'persuade' them to either give up (come on, you're in a lambo, they're in a nicked Vauxhall! :p ) or to turn off onto a road that can have stingers deployed.
