If you want the best all around carb, imho, get a late 70s Quadrajet with APT rod. As for your earlier complaints on a Qjet, you're doing it wrong. Look up Cliff Ruggles if you need Qjet help. The tiny 2bbls are hyper efficient (well, for a carb) when cruising, but nothing (imho) beats the flood of power when you open those massive secondaries.
Get true dual exhausts. IF you want it quiet, just run a high-flow cat + resonator, and a NON-chambered muffler.
