Ever since ive owned my supra (3 years 6 months approx) it has had a slight and infrequent warm start problem. If this fault occurs it will usually start after the 3rd or 4th atempt. otherwise it is fine. I asked about this on the uk forum and the answers there were

1, heat soak

2, something called a vsv valve on the fuel rail.

3, timing

has anyone here experianced a problem like this?

i have fitted new plugs, leads, distributor cap and rotor arm to try and fix this fault.

cheers all:icon_bigg

Could also be a bad FC switch in the AFM. EDIT: Actually, it could be a couple different components in the AFM.

well it only happens occasionally not every single time. could this still be caused by leaking injectors or inoperative fuel pressure things?

as a side note on this im getting 40 miles approx to £10 worth of fuel. at about £0.87.9 pence per litre i reakon ill get 11 or so litres (it varies by a few pence at different stations. as little as 85.9 and as much as 98.9 pence per litre)

i dont know if that could indicat leaking injectors or not though

what is the easiest way to go about checking the timing? and the afm etc

cheers guys

Good call Nick.

I would pull the tank..., but this is just me. I would go ahead and change the pump filters and do an all around tune up on it. You could cheat and add some heat to the tank as well. That may help you. But anyhow I would drop the tank, Clean tank, change filters and I would dump a quart of tranny fluid into the tank and fill up with premium.

This will lubricate all of your internals. Injectors and all. The tranny fluid will make the engine puff a wee bit of smoke but nothing to worry about. On your next fill up go straight premium and after that fill as you please. Check your air filter. If it's nasty, change it. GO on with a full fledged tune up and enjoy your ride.

YA you could burn it off. I just wouldn't want to risk having to turn wrenches on something else if it was to create more problems. I always keep a low tank when I work on mine because the only thing you ever know is that you never know.
