Hey guys. Right now i have no heat shield and my aluminum IC piping gets pretty hot. Which would help more? Heat wrap on the pipes or a heat shield on the turbo?

FFIM. :)

Of course, if you are not going that way, then I'd reccomend coatings, wrap and thermal shielding for the pipes near your turbo/exhaust if you can.

I've found that thremal coating the exhaust manifold, turbo and heat shields made a very noticable difference in the underhood heat.

I also wrap my downpipe, and that keeps more heat out of the engine bay, and under your feet too. (And in theory, keeps the gas flow rate higher, helping with flow.)

My current setup is a thermal coated exhaust manifold, that is then wrapped. Thermal coated turbo hot side, and DP, and wrapped DP. (I'm looking for the right turbo blanket, but that's the plan eventually.

I was going to thermal coat the inside of my upper IC pipe, but at this time, it's just powdercoated. Seems to work fine with all the other coatings and wraps however.

Have the pipes ceramic coated...thermal wrap + ceramic coat on the DP makes a huge difference. Ceramic coat both the manifold and turbo heat shields.

What kind of exhaust shields is everyone running with an after market downpipe? With my DDP I don't think there was any way to attach the shield securely so I have been running without one. My underhood temps are really bad and I would like to see what kind of shields you guys thought up.

I have a cooleeze dp I still have the shield. Just bolt it down with the one bolt on the turbo. It holds it fine on my car

Ya, I could do just the one bolt. I just figured it wouldn't be that bad when I took it off...now I'm going to put it back on.

It makes a difference. I notice my car run differently after several pulls because the IC pipe over the turbo becomes hot.

even with the stock heat shields on the turbo/manifold my ic pipes get VERY hot. I think I'm gonna end up ceramic coating everything + turbo blanket + heat wrap. I'm gonna go the whole 900 yards :)

if you use the wrap, please use the black sealant. it provides some waterproofing, prevents fraying, and just looks a lot better imo.
