Hey guys,

So on my journey to replace my cars head gasket I found this hose just hanging there. It must go somewhere since there is a coupling around it but where? Pictures would help since I'm not very familiar with this engine.

The hose is located right behind the turbo's downpipe. You could see part of the heat shield in the picture. Please let me know if you need more pictures.

Thanks in advance!

I would go to your Toyota dealership, they're not to expensive and even less if you buy online. The location sees a lot of heat and is a pretty harsh environment. And if it fails you're overheated on the side of the road with a possible warped head. Not something you want to put your trust in on a cheap generic part from lowes. It's cheap insurance to just buy the OEM part.

edit:Silver MK3 beat me to it.

Sounds good. Mine started to crack and developed a pin size hole. I took me a while to figure out where it was coming from. I'm glad I caught it before it fully burst though. That could have gotten ugly...

That hose probably had a bolt or something in it. It's ghetto, but as the good reinforced caps are hard to find, using a short piece of hose with a proper sized bolt works.

Also, 89+ cars have a different pipe around the block for RHD or LHD so they don't have that cap anymore.

This is true. Imagine my surprise when I ordered a cap, with all the rest of the hoses that were going to be replaced for the rebuild on my 92, and I go to put it on but there was nothing there. My mistake using my brothers 87 to create my shopping list.
