Horsepower?

I was wondering if I could get your guys' advice... I currently own a 91 1G-GTE twin turbo supra that I would like to "mod." I've got a Apexi Power Intake on the way in the mail and I was wondering if I threw a turbo back exhaust with probably a high-flow cat as well as a boost controller to boost to 15PSI if that would give me a respectable horsepower number for a street car. This car is by no means a drag car and I don't want to turn it into one. So if someone could answer this question it would be appreciated.

Side note- In the long run I plan on putting some 550's or 440's into it with a Lexus AFM and all that junk along with an intercooler. If the above mods wouldn't put it to a respectable number would these mods top it off? These last few are as far as I am willing to go with a 2 liter engine in a ~3200LB car.

Please don't tell me just to buy a 1J or 7M to drop into it as I do not have the knowledge or the money to pay for it.

Id go with the top one,
Except I wouldn't even run a high-flo cat, just do a test pipe.
A full exhaust system will make an incredible difference, especially considering your car is basically stock, along with a FMIC and supporting mods.

What are the stock 1G hp figures anyway?

To Sam- Thanks for the help I plan on getting the rest of my exhaust done once taxes come back. I want to stay high flow cat to stay legal but I will see what the shop says that is doing it considering I am paying them they shouldn't car unless they have a lot of morals. The stock 3rd gen 1G apprently puts out 210 at the flywheel. That is sourcing for wikipedia... Since the only mod I have is a 4 inch cat back with a 5 inch tip my figures should be around that.

To everyone eles- Thanks for the advice.

I'm not sure about in Canada, but here in WI all OBD I cars dont have to go through emissions, which is like anything before 94-96 depending on manufacturer.

Have the shop make you a test pipe and a high flow cat, then you can swap them when you need to.

That makes sense... It is just a few bolts to change in and out isn't it?

Alberta doesn't care about emissions. I've had the cats taken out of all my cars for various reasons, several at exhaust shops.

Alright wicked thanks for that info Rob.

You know, if there were one good reason to move to Canada, it would be that 15 year import rule...

Have fun with that 1g, I've seen a few at SILV, they're interesting, at the very least :)

I am pretty sure in the United States they do not have a 15 year rule. I may be wrong on this but I am pretty sure it various from state to state.

Nope. Kinda hard to get JDM cars licensed here. Although, living where I do in BFE, it's really not that hard. Simple VIN check (hey, Japanese cars have vins too, they just don't fit the standard here!) to make sure it isn't stolen, and go through about a 3 week process to get a title. Easy enough. I am debating on trying it with getting a BNR32 from Canada once I'm satisfied with the Supra :)

Hmmm I see then... R32? Ya my friend had one, he got in a crash. Before that though it was amazingly fast and its acceleration was ridiculous. If you manage to find one I suggest buying it.
