Hi guys.
I'm going fiberglass hood in near future, so I need some "racing" hood locks (safety reason)...

There is a lot of chinese garbage floating around that corrodes badly...

Can't you advice some good one, please? Any photos appreciated too (with model and vendor names).

Thanks.

a friend of mine has those on his mk4. They look super clean. Boris got a pic of em installed on a mk3 hood.

Also mr. Y. Suprasport sells a set of regular sparco pins.

Thanks for input guys!
I guess I'll get some sparco's (they won't corrode, I assume) as I think aerocatch doesn't match MK3 design (but may be I'm wrong, and change my mind if see some pics installed)

I've been resisting installing hood pins on my car because the front is so clean as it is. But I do need them. My left hood corner starts to lift up above 90mph. I may try something invisible first. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Your hood was designed with a latching system like OEM. Your hood is also very light so of course it will lift a little. :)

This is what I had when I made hoods and it essentially is like the OEM latch. It has 2 loops and one is for hen the hood pops, it catches on it. ;)

My hood was damaged in an accident, then the skin flew off on the freeway and has been fixed twice, so it's not in the same shape it was when new.

Do you think it would lift less with an engine undercover and a IC blockoff plate? I tried pulling on the corner that is lifting, and it takes a lot of force to pull it up. But when I'm on the freeway, I swear it looks like it's lifting up almost 1"

I have standard $20 hood pins from autozone. My hood does latch when closed, but it's just an extra safety measure, as I can see it flapping around the cowl sometimes when a bolt is loose..

Brad, the hood will lift because it is light but because you have the extra hook (which is same as OEM) you wouldn't need pins. I do understand that your hood was in an accident so I can understand why you would want pins. Maybe I will look at it next time we are out for a cruise.

Extra safety? Why didn't Toyota have hood pins too? ;) The latch is the same design as factory hence why I say no need for hood pins. (the hoods that have the latch I posted a pic of above)
