Do any of you remove ur hood liner. My car is getting painted and I don't want to put my crappy hood liner on.

So do any of you guys run without a hood liner I'm just worried about engine heat and the paint.

I was also looking at aftermarket hood insulation like dynamat hood liner I think that would look alot better

Buy a new one. Can't beat oem.

The turbo can mess up the paint around it if running without a blanket.

Same here for my 90 after I work this contract. Getting paint done in the engine bay and the exterior. Going to pull the 2J out just to have the bay done right and then after cleaning it up all pretty, going to put the new hood fire blanket on there.

Dynamat hood liner is flammable...
I did not know this. I had to cut my stock twin heat shield in half to get it back on (was a pain to get out in the first place) when we did my downpipe/y-pipe. So, when I put it back together, to seal up where I had cut, I put Stinger Roadkill across the seam. I figured it would have melted by now, but it has held up surprisingly well.

Quite heavy though...

My Toyota parts guy here in Clarksville says that the hood liner is now discontinued, and unable to purchase. But you can still get the clips to hold it in place.

HOOD INSULATOR 53341-14100 DISCONTINUED
CLIPS (11) 90467-08081 $ 1.35 EA
CLIPS (4) 90467-11035 $ 1.35 EA

If someone knows where to get one of these hood liners, please let me know so I can contact that Toyota dealer and order me one.

My car has a hood liner and my clear coat is in good shape, but I still use all the stock heat shields.

My friends 87 with no hood liner and no heat shields has the clear coat peeling directly above the exhaust/turbo.

If you're repainting your car, why not protect your investment?

I meant all 86-88 supras. There all rusted out though. I haven't been in 3 weeks because of the snow so they might have gotten more

Plus all the supra has mint interiors I already got the dash out of one.

And got 4 alpine speakers out of one supra for 40 bucks

Junk yard is the only place or a guy parting his car out. I would use the dynamat hood kit or any company's hood kit dynamat is way over priced. And a turbo blanket
