Hi,

I have a quick question, I am removing the insulation from the hood for about a week to do some work with it. I know a lot of heat builds up in the engine bay, will this warp the hood or damage the paint?

I am getting the clutch rebuilt during this period as well, and I would like to drive it after to ensure everything is working well.

Let me know if this is okay.

Thanks,

I've been running without my insulation for almost a year now with no ill effects. ( <- sits back and waits for JJ to roast me)

Of course, my paint was already a bit faded up the middle of the hood.

Hmm, my paint job is about 2 years old. I know it is only a week, but I don't know if I should take the chance.

One thing to remember is that new cars don't have insulation. (at least my 95 Celica, 99 Camry, 00+ Celicas that I've seen...) don't have it.

IIRC it's mainly because the quality of the paint has increased in the last 20 years and doesn't get damaged as easily by the amount of heat it would get without insulation.

from what ive read, the hood underliner reduces engine noise, not heat. things might be a bit louder, but i cant see you having a problem if its only going to be off for a short time
