Hood fireproof undercover

Anyone remove this black cover from under the hood?

I am planning to remove mine to make way for my hood vents.
Any disadvantages?

my hood hasn't had it since i bought it . Even though my hood is black i haven't seen any major damage to the top from it off. maybe being a different color it might.

Your car is NA...turbos generate a ton of heat.

very true, so that will affect it as well but any motor will still generate alot of heat nonetheless.

i would strongly suggest cutting a nice hole in the blanket.. and keeping the blanket on.. its there for a fire retardant.. and to keep the paint on the hood good.

i agree.... but what about us whose blanket is falling apart and dosed in oil from past bhgs. i feel my blanket is more of a hazard than protection

also i think its for sound too, after my car got fully warm you wouldn't be able to hear it.. since i took it off now all i hear is TICK TICK, TICK TICK, TICK TICK I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE I KILLED HER AHHHHHH

The under hood blanket is not there as a fire retardent. It is a noise supression blanket, and that is all.

Don't have one, haven't had one for over a year. My hood is white and it's fine, my engine is fine, and I didn't really notice any noise difference. I just wish somebody would make one of those nice shiny aftermarket ones for our car.
