Very welcome Fermin. Take it easy, though. The naysayers will say what they want, but from where I'm sitting, it's a good job especially considering what you had to work with.
Much more presentable than my PVC setup.. ::shhh:: :D
Although people didn't know it was PVC until I told them it was. I did that for a reason. lol

edit:: sawbladz: don't take what I said about your car to heart. it wasn't meant to be taken like that, as I had already stated. There's no reason for you to be pissed off, and I certainly didn't bitch you out for anything you said. I was simply backing up what he said.
Sit back, breathe methodically. It's the internet. Tone of voice certainly isn't conveyed and therefore words are misconstrued.
Just think about this. If you don't have a 90* bend, you'll have two 45* bends. One to clear the strut tower and one to level out with the fenderwell. Do me a favor and find out what sort of pressure drop a single mandrel bent 90* bend has, and the same with twin 45's.
I think the results will speak for themselves. If they don't, then I'll eat my words, but until that point I stand by my statement that a 90* bend isn't a wrong decision whatsoever.

Since I haven't chosen a side ;), I'll aside with my buddy Kurt.
Anything (as long as its sealed [no leaks] and is stable/bigger), will be more productive than the stock intercooler HOSES.

So...if we go by these theories...I guess my UIC pipe just made me lose like 60rwhp. :(

Ok. Im going to try and explain. I wasn't saying that the 2 45's were better than the 90 for the piping. I was saying that his entire explanation including the toboggan was incorrect. Decrease in angle and increase in bend radius increase flow. I don't want people to search for information and find explanations similar to this because it doesnt help them understand what is right.

Now, in terms of piping, I still think that a 45 at the 3000 pipe would be the most efficient. With reference to the picture below, count the number of bends before the pipe enters the fender. I see one tight 90, then a bend of roughly 30 degrees downward, then another bend to enter the fender. If you took a 45 degree bend from the 3000 pipe, it would meet the fender at almost the correct angle to enter the fender. This is smoother and would shorten the length of the intercooler piping. Also, both ways spend almost the same length of time above the turbo so they are equally inefficient in that regard. Now I have no actual proof of this, but it makes perfect sense.

Now, with reference to you insulting my wheels, I see now that it was not your intention. However, please rethink doing so in the future. If you read my original post you will see that I never insulted the guys work or his car. I also never said that it was a bad set-up, anything other than stock is an imporvement. I only said that his theories were incorrect...and I am right in this regard. So for someone to use me and my car as an example make it seem like you are targeting me. It doesn't matter how many times you say you dont mean it, you took the time to single me out. I don't appreciate this as I am trying to help all the members of this forum by explaining things to those that would otherwise not understand. I use this forum to search for information just as you probably do. How would you feel if you came across info that you were going to use...and it wasnt truthful? It might be info on something more critical and it could cause you serious problems.

Anyways, thats good enough. I hope you understand my point of view.

in all seriousness weather is 45/90 degree how many HP are we talking about because 5-10 HP you wouldnt notice in a car that heavy so..... either or is an upgrade from the STOCK.

You may not notice the difference at your power level but it is very noticeable on high hp cars. A high hp Supra runs a large ammount of boost, all of which flows through your IC piping. The restriciton in IC piping increases exponentially with respect to the volume of air passing through it. I recently read a thread where someone was talking about how he was "running out of steam" at high boost. His problem was a restriciton at the because the inlet/outlets were too small. A restricive piping route can cause similar negative effects. And again...anything is better than stock.::dead horse::

Yeah...After putting on my IC pipe on...I noticed acouple things:

1. Immediate increase in throttle response.
2. Once building positive boost, from 5psi to 16psi+ was literally instantaneous.
3. As silly as it sounds, the sound of the spool was much louder as well.

You girls still running stock IC pipes with more than stock boost...You wouldn't BELIEVE how much your stock IC pipes expand under full boost.

I ran my car hoodless for a few days one time for experimental reasons and going under boost, I would watch the rubber hoses of my IC pipes expand like they were going to blow up! :icon_bigg

*edit* BTW: If you ever get bored, take your hood off on a nice sunny day...
Go drive it. FEEL the difference! :D
Believe it or not, it felt like it wanted to move faster(lighter) and it was direct air rushing ALL over the motor, so she ran GREAT. I loved it. ;) Unfortunately, driving your car around hoodless was soooooo Fast & Furious 1 Style...so I couldn't keep it that way. :icon_conf

Hell, I used to run the JBL style PVC pipes and boost went from stock 6psi(ish) to maxed out stock gauge. Anything is better than stock.

I dont get why people even post on here if they are not looking for feedback. A piece of an exhaust system was used as an IC pipe and, from what I read, it was given the credit it deserved. Everyone agrees its better than stock, but its not something anyone should have specially made. A few of us were simply correcting this so that no one pays for a 90 degree bend, but instead gets a smaller angle to improve flow and reduce head loss. Congrats on finding a use for something that otherwise would be useless, but don't expect it to be the perfect design either.

I don't claim to be an expert in the field but I have a decent knowledge of fluid properties. Whenever you are thinking about improving the performance of your engines you need to see it as a pump. In other words, its performance will depend on its ability to get air and to get rid of air. With that in mind, you want to keep the flow of the intercooler system as laminar as possible. This is done by increasing pipe diameter, reducing friction within the pipes (mandrel bends), and keeping the bends to as small of degree as possible (reducing turbulence).

To whomever said that it is no big deal because the horsepower gains will be minimal...your right especially with a pressurized system. However, if I am going to buy something, why wouldn't I want to buy the system that will produce the most power? Especially because the bends are about the same price.

Conclusion: great job on making something out of nothing and improving the stock system, dont post if you don' want comments, and if your going to replicate this buy a pipe with less of a bend.

The problem is, this setup is not for sale.
from a cost vs. improvement standpoint, I think it's a fantastic setup hands-down.

No need for further arguments/defense as far as I can see.
We're doing a good job keeping it civil though, so thanks for that.

Jeff: I loved driving around with no hood on. I got so many people wanting to race me, it was amazing. I literally drove around with the hood on and I didn't get bothered by anyone. Then my friend suggested I take the hood off and go for a cruise, so whatever, I was bored... and the attention it attracted was amazing! lol

Exactly! It sounds so F&F'ist ;) to say it, but it's so true.
Squeezing tons-o-boost out of a HKS SSQV with no hood on is what REALLY got attention, LOL.

I actually only took the hood off because I was tearing my turbo off for the first time and realized it made it that much easier with the hood off/tilted back.

Ahhh...The ricer days.
