OWNED!!! the kid that owned it didnt know ANYTHING About cars... at all.

I know a TON of little kids that jump to F&F whent hey hear the word Supra, let alone someone old enough to drive...

if I had a car that was in a major motion picture, I'd look into it's popularity afterwards before I sold the thing.

I dunno, maybe the engine/trans/drivetrain are all effed and he took some parts off of it to say, "it just needs 'X' and it's boost ready." I would like to think someone got a killer deal, then see them put it on Ebay to turn a huge profit. That's just what I'd do though.

Yeah Nomad we're really jealous of him. Everybody on here is glad for him if he scored a MKIV for whatever amount you posted. Until we see pictures it sounds like a scam, it reads like a scam, so we're pretty sure it's a scam. Tell me how someone can own a MKIV and not know what it is. Do you think someone gave him the car of do you think he had to pay thirty thousand dollars for it only to sell it to your frind for two grand. Does it make sense to you? People arent' that stupid on a daily basis. There is at least four or five MKIV scams on ebay at all times. It's a badass car and people think if they can get one for five thousand dollars, they lose all of their common sense and send some scam artist a check for five grand. I hope your friend gets his car and can post pics of it here, but if I was you, I wouldn't be calling shotgun until he pulls up in your driveway in it.

I'm not trying to upset anybody - just being realistic.

If somebody actually did pick up such a nice car for $2,500 - damn right I would be jealous. Hell, I think it would be unbelievable deal for a bare bones MKIV shell.

Instead of getting your nuts all twisted up, post pics of the car.

I don't think anybody is saying that you are making anything up.

We are wondering if your friend actually has picked up the car yet, which hasn't been answered. If anything, we are questioning whether this deal has been completed yet. Nobody is doubting YOUR honesty, rather the accuracy of information from the buyer or seller.

All I heard is that you said your friend called you and said he bought the car. I never heard that he actually picked up the car. I think most of us are concerned that your friend bought something off of ebay or craigslist and is celebrating a bit early.

I guess none of this really matters anyway - but I don't want you thinking that we are questioning your honesty - because that is not what is happening.

Nobody is accusing you of being full of shit. What I believe many of us (myself included) believe is that your friend got taken.

It's a one in a million chance that someone would sell him that car for that kind of money.

And we've seen literally HUNDREDS of people who got screwed in deals like this.

So take it easy, and I hope, for his sake, that you are right about this deal.

But I have my serious doubts. However none of this is directed at you.

I dont buy this story(like others have said, nothing against the OP). The mk4 is a fairly known car, even some old lady would see it as a newer sporty car and know its more than 2,500$.

This kind of story about buying an awesome car for dirt cheap usually only happens when its some obscure unknown model. One look through the newspaper or ebay will popup enough mk4s to give the seller a clue. Besides the fact the seller knew enough to say what was wrong with the car, so they do have a clue.

The car is stolen, doesnt exist OR the guy who bought it hit the lotto when he bought it.
