I just put my 4.30's in, because my 3.73 diff is toast. So, I went to the N/A parts car, got the 4.30 diff out of it, filled it with fresh redline, and stuck it in the sup. I'm getting sideways in 3rd gear on my street tires.

Anyway... How do I make this thing hook at 18 psi?

wow, you have almost identical mods as i do. I dont know how to help with the traction, i cant get any in 1st or 2nd at 15psi. I was thinking about a 4.10 instead, i think the limit for the 4.3 is the stock turbo. I love how fast it makes the car take off though. My worst 60' out of 12 runs was a 2.3 after spinning like crazy off the line then shifting into 2nd 10 feet off the line. Well I am getting some larger tires soon, I hope that helps along with a lot of sun to heat up the street.

I'm currently looking for a similar mod.

Can I ask, is it really worth it?
By how much did your top speed drop?

I have a 3.9 NA differential sitting in my garage, and i'm thinking of swapping it into my turbo supra but I don't know whether to look for a 4.3 or go with the 3.9 (or even stay 3.7)

Where are you guys getting the 4.1 and 4.3's from? Are those the N/A rear diffs?

I know there was a "sports package" N/A with TEMS and had the LSD.....

what years were those diffs from?

I shift into 4th at the 1/8 marker around 84 mph and go through the traps at 6200-6300 rpm in 4th at 103-107. I read that its good for 117mph on stock tires.

4.3 are na diffs, get one that is lsd, all of them in canada are. 4.1 are the torsens that come from most jz70 1jz cars which might be harder to sourse. I am going to see how I can hook up at the track this summer and decide if I need to change it down a little. I hope my larger tires will help, right now I am still on 225 sawblades.

as for gas milage, I have noticed no difference, actually I get better milage now with my afc tuned. Although I only can cruze at about 130ish in 5th without the rpm being to high for me. but then that keeps me away from tickets.

Worth every penny or dollar or free..... So much more fun shifting....

Lost of top speed is no problem, if you can't beat the other car by redline in 5th, your not going to beat the car at all, which is around 160.

i hope you guys know that the wider the tire the less traction you will have. E.g. it's easier to spin a 315 than a 295. Wider tires give you more cornering grip, but decreases the front to back contact patch which gives you the straight line grip.

go dr's, not wider tires.

get yourself some dr's. i retract my statement. :)

make sure you dont start wheel hopping when you do get traction.

:wuteva: ............................
So top fuel dragsters can run faster quater miles by switching to narrower tires?

IF you have a 7 inch wide tire and 12 inch wide tire, both of same rolling diameter, you will have the same front to back contact patch of say 1 inch. So, the 7 inch wide tire will have a 7 square inch contact patch and the 12 inch wide will have a 12 square inch contact patch. That is why the wider tire gives you more grip for straight line and cornering....

Wider wheels vs wider tires... contact path is affected more from change in wheel width as opposed to tire width, no?

lol...
the tires my car came with, on sawblades, would break loose in any gear other than 5th...
then again, the rubber was hella old, hard as hell, and really bald...
so far, havent felt like thrashing on my weak ass NA clutch <GTE swap w/o fancy tranny> so no sidewaysing for me yet
