HKSS BOV MAKING TROUBLE.....

HI GUYS


I replaced the stock bov after reading that its not worth running - with a hkss bov....

and it sounds great, but when boosting and sometimes without boost it just
turns off the engine??

like when pressing the clutch at a stop sign it will turn off???

Anybody knows what could be wrong?

It's vented to the atmosphere correct? Buy the insert to plumb the blowoff valve back into the accordian hose and you should be fine . Just make sure the stock BPV port on the 3000 pipe is sealed off. I'm guessing your car backfires between shifts sometimes too?

You can't unless you get rid of your afm (go MAFT-Pro, standalone, SPEED DENSITY). Check out suprasport.com, suprastore.com, horsepowerfreaks.com. One of those places has the item I'm talking about .

thinking about maft/pro for a while, is it hard to setup yourself and how much would a complete setup cost if I want to run speed density??

well yes and NO you cant make the wooosh sound :biglaugh: your best bet is leave the stock BOV and still put the HKS SSQ, leave the stock BOV recerculating and the HKS venting to the atmosphere and you will be ok.

You'd best search that one man, I'm not running MAFT-Pro, but plan on it after my rebuild's complete . There are a lot of ppl on here more knowlegable in that area than me . Chriso has it, iirc Malloy does too.

its about 500 and you dont NEED it. its nice to have. tighten up your bov some and reset your ecu. the car will run rich when the bov vents to the atmo and if its too loose it will do exactly what you described. lots of people run the ssqv and the greddy type s without issue.

You will not be able to boost very much, you will reach the limit of the stock BPV way sooner than the HK$. Plus you run the risk of the stocker leaking back into the intake at high boost. Only do that option if your goals aren't any higher than say 10 psi .

well he didnt specified the mods he had done on the car.....or even better get a bosh BOV or a DSM crushed BOV is still cheaper than the MAF/T

Correct , but the outcome of how the car reacts differs greatly in between supras. When I was venting the HK$ to the atmosphere I didn't stall, I just got a loud ass backfire between shifts. Your best bet is to recirculate it. You will still be able to hear it recirculating, just not as loud . I hope you're not just wanting to Blow off for the ricer sound .

nah the backfire was why i did it i have the vpc now (See sig) and its still alot of fun!

maftpro is a breeze to wire up, and buy it from dr. jonez. trust me, you won't regret it. help out the little guy! he's the one that made it all possible.

or you could run a bosch bypass valve in conjunction with the HKS SSQV. (which is what i'll be setting up this winter. )

nope, im doing that now. Just plug the hole and you should be good. I ran the stocker vented and had no prdblems, but put it back because I couldn't hear it in the car.

Rich is always better than lean . These cars run on the rich side from the factory anyways. So If you don't have any major mods or big boost you should be fine.
