My girlfriend's brother and I are having some trouble installing an HKS Turbo Timer (Type 1 with harness but no directions) in his 1990 Supra. The harness has a main plug, a grey wire, a brown wire, and ground. We figured out where the main plug went pretty easily and grounded it. From various searching I've gathered that the grey wire needs to get connected to the wire that's connected to the e-brake and the brown wire needs to be connected to a wire related to the RPMs. Can anyone confirm this? We found the e-brake wire fine, and I guess we'll just have to run a wire back to it. I have no clue what to plug into the brown wire though.

Perhaps someone with instructions could enlighten us? I tried searching for directions online but couldn't find any specific to the HKS Type 1. :1zhelp:

Thanks in advance

I have a Type-0 HKS TT, and I never bothered with the RPM wire.

I also used the plug and play harness.
As long as the e-brake wire is connected correctly the TT will function.

It just won't "auto calibrate" to a set number based off of RPM's. (Usually 30 seconds is all I let it do anywho.)

Okay, good to know that will work if all else fails. I'd still like to know where to plug the RPM wire into though.

Also, because it didn't come with a manual, can anyone tell me what the four different buttons do? Thanks.

...just look at the pin out of the ECU and tap into a RPM signal.

I'm trying to install (and failing) a HKS timer as well. Got the harness and everything, it's the other three wires that I can't figure out. I thought this thing was plug and play!!

Well there isn't going to be a RPM signal in the ignition switch.

It will be plug and play with the grounds attached.

Don't you have to somehow tap into the RPM switch and the e-brake wire to get it to work on top of doing the ground and plugging in the harness?
