HKS SSQV Squeaking :(

Hi all,

Recently installed a SSQV kit on my 7M but the blow off valve 'squeaks' as it lets out low boost pressure (less than 5 psi)... is this normal? can I fix it?

Do I just need to adjust the internal springs of the BOV? HKS don't give any instructions on what can be changed/adjusted on the SSQV...

yep that is normal.

only way to change it is get the purple insert for it.

that's annoying... i've just got a recirculation valve for it so i'll see if that muffles the noise.

Or, just unbolt the piece that hold the 3 fin dohicky and pull out the plastic 3 fin dohicky and cut off the fins and reinstall the plastic ring. This is what I plan on doing with mine, it's the fins that make the noise as the air passes over them, so cut them out and you will have a quieter BOV.

EDIT: Or seeing as you have the recirculation adapter, you could intall that without recirculating it.

Nope, it's not just the fins... mine makes an additional 'squeak' noise, different from the regular 'whistle' that the fins make.

It still makes the noise with the straight-through recirculation adaptor.

I'll see if I can take a video...
