So ive read about a rivet that had to be removed from the HKS Stopper style head gaskets. I got mine on the way and i was wondering if anyone had a picture of what rivet there talking about. I will post a picture of my gasket once it arrives. Also, do not use copper spray with the headgasket correct?

Thanks everyone in advance, i just want to make sure i have everything right for my mechanic

Iirc it was on the early cometic gaskets not the hks.

Easiest way to tell is to lay the gasket on the block and see if the rivets touch the surface of the block. Never "heard" about this on a hks tho.

Here's a pic showing the point where the Rivet causes the problem ;)

i overlooked this since i got the hks stopper gasket but when i check mine there didn't seem to be interference

not saying that there wont be a problem with yours

the one i got had 3 large rivets towards the center and 2 other kind of rivets if rivets at all, there didn't seem to be anything on mine nor did they obstruct the surface

picture of what i mean:

i would say check yours to make sure and gets some close up pics when you receive it

As I said it's only an issue after the block is decked, uncut block NONE of the MHG's have an issue leaving the rivet in place as it sits far enough out to be in line with where the block casting curves down.

I dont believe the block has ever been decked, but only the head. Ill talk to him and go over this with him when i go out to the shop tomorrow. Thanks a lot everyone.

yes

maybe because the material removed from my block surface was so little?

Well, im going to take a picture of the gasket when i get it. Does anyone happen to have a picture after the rivets have been removed? I just want to make sure i don't mess a $350 headgasket up.

You wont mess the gasket up removing any of the rivets so long as you keep all the layers in order. Like already stated, lay the HG on the block surface and if any of the rivets touch the deck, remove them.
