the more i use it lately the more it loosens up. doesn't seem to stick much anymore. I'm having trouble getting into third gear now though lol. My muscle memory wants to be able to do one thing when the shifter wants to do another.

Just installed them 10 minutes ago...having never taken off the shifter before it took me about an hour when said and done. I havn't driven it around yet but just shifting in the parking lot difference is like night and day!!! No more mis-shifts for this kid cause he can't get it in gear.....well unless i downshift to first i think the syncro is shot it just grinds when i try lol.

you shouldnt be downshiffting into first anyway

Mine sticks a bit to the passenger side...

It's from wear and tear on the shifter it appears, but i'd have to try a brand new shifter to confirm it (and I'm not doing that unless I go to a C's shifter)

Make sure you grease the bushings. They will loosen up a little after some use. Mine did that initially too.

You won't need the bushings if you go C's.

yeah, mine is well greased, but the shifter still sits a bit to the right... It looks like the top plate that holds everything together might be a bit worn...

Also, yes, you SHOULD be able to downshift into first, but it's not supposed to be easy over a certain speed... Every toyota I've had was like that, gotta rev match to get it to slip in usually...

so it may not be the syncro?

Thats what I meant. Its build not to slip into first over 10 or so miles an hour unless you rev match. It could still be your sincro if it grinds, usually it will just restist slipping in. First is pretty much a from a stop gear IMO, most people done know what rev matching is, or they ride gears all the way down through first. Propably the reason. Your syncro is iffy, Gotta love prev owners.
