Hey guys,

I’m looking for any info you guys can help me with to find out what I have to do to get a cam in the .400 lift. I looked around and all I can find was bunch of regrinds with around .340 lift and the new crower 280 cam with a .360 lift. I know TED makes billet cams for lots of $$$$. My head was CNC ported and was flowed all the way to .500 lift. I’m trying to use up as much as I can from the head. What do you guys think would be the highest lift I could get a cam with out clearance problems or any modifications to the head other than normal stuff like springs and so on.

I read something about using valve lashes, boring out the bucket, a forum member had a set of cams made by web and was able to get 9.5 mm. do you think I can get a set hard welded and also taking some of the base circle to achieve the lift I want ? any help would be great …. Thanks :1zhelp:

Mine are TRD at 9mm of lift and seems like there is enough for 1mm more lift but not much more if even that. Running stock buckets and Comp Cam springs. Previous owner ran them on stock springs, but I don't think think that's a good idea.

cool, thats good to know , i also know of one more member that is running a 9.5 lift cam that web camshaft made with no problems. i'm trying to find out if i can get a 10mm cam to work with stock buckets and with out running into a problem

Can you post your flow numbers and pics of your CNC port job?? Why not send your flow numbers to regrind cam people and let them recommend a camshaft? That's what I plan to do with mine.

Does anybody have any info on shim under bucket mods?

9 to 9.5mm is about all you would want to run on the stock lifter. 10 mm cam you would want some shim under bucket type lifters and you will have to clearance the head as you will have interference with the cam lobes. You wouldn't really need to go to a larger lifter diameter untill you get in the 11.5 to 12mm 288 duration area. You may also want to install studs in the caps instead of the stock bolts.

If you are worried about how much a set of really good, billet big lift cams cost, then you can not afford to even use a set of big cams to their potential.

where can i get a set of the shim under buckets from ? can you get them ? you really think 10 mm lift would need clearancing of the head...

thanks

There is a thread on Supra forums about using a 1sv-fe bucket or something like that. Its from an Echo or some Toyota economy car that does not use shims, just straight buckets. However, the sizing is all off and they would need to be machined. I am forgetting the details obviously but a SF search should find it.

Nope they're the shimless buckets you need to change sizes if you have to adjust lash.

so we could just plop those in our stock bores? How would one go about measuring the size you need? About how much do one of those go for?

Edit: Oh, and that would allow 10mm of lift?
