I just put a new engine in my 87 n/a and now it is idling at about 2000-2500 rpms. How do I fix that? I also have a bunch of stuff that has no wire/plugs for them from the wiring harness and some vacume hoses that idk where to put.....soo close to being finished, but yet still so far. I need help please I have to be able to get to class on thursday!

Check the vacuum diagram under your hood and make sure all the lines are routed correctly, after that check to see if any of your intake clamps are loose.
well my trottle cable isnt stuck and i have tryed to hook up my vacuum lines like the diagram says and every other way i could see possiable....idk if the diagram matches the engine....and still idling at 2-3k. i also tryed moving the throttle positioning sensor...did nothing. could it be the cold start sensor? one thing i did find out is that if i hook up the vacuum line off the intake manifold, the one nearest to the driver seat, i can get it to drop to 1.5-2k rpms. but now it wont start, idk y but i think thats just something minor. any more ideas?
It may be a combonation of things unfortunately, put the TB on that dropped the Idle and spray the intake manifold with carb cleaner and see if it makes the car drop idle or raise the idle.
Yes but dont spray everywhere just spray in a single area for a second and wait to see if the idle fluctuates. If nothing happens move to another spot. Try to focus on areas that have a gasket that could potentially be leaking.
ok well idk what the hell is going on, now its starting fine but still high idle. got all the vacuum lines hooked up the same as the diagram says. didnt get to check for leaks again yet. soo i was told i should replace my new ICV and cold start injector with my old engines ICV and cold start injector, but the old ICV is completely different then my new one. should i buy a brand new ICV? BTW i mean new as in new to me, not new from the store. another Q how do i tell what year my engine is?
