The plastic bracket defiantely needs to be clearanced a bit, it's minor though, not sure if the support will need to be messed with.

Also, there are bulbs that you can use that would need no clearancing at all. The issue is they're not as good as the stock D2S bulbs.

Well, looks like you'll have to cut the core support to fit the D2S socket. Sucks, but if you want the ability to walk into a normal store and buy an HID replacement bulb, it's what has to happen :(

Unless them come out with a smaller projector, but I doubt it will happen (at least for a quality bi-xenon)

First set should be done this week.

Yes, I can use special bulbs too, as I said

Also, after having looked at it, looks like the actual core support won't have to be cut, only the metal bracket that bolts to it for the headlight assembly. Trimming the plastic housing is minor, in fact, most of it is from Toyota's sloppy cutting of the piece.

Retro take two... Definately not going to be doing glass anymore, or my prices are going to go up. The cheap housings have cheap glass (no surprise) and are sealed with caulking making them extremely difficult to take apart (broke another one :: angry :: )

Funny discovery though, they bolt right in to a MKII without any cutting or trimming needing to be done to the headlight bracket or core support.

Anyway, plan is to get this one set done (without breaking anything else :icon_evil) and then move onto either plastic lense housings or higher quality glass housings (i.e. more $$$). Was trying to keep the cost down for you guys, but it's being a royal pain.

Could either cut, or space the headlight out farther. There is plenty of room to do it, but it still looks a bit odd. Modifying the plastic bracket is easy, just notching the metal bracket behind it is the hard part.

If you have a MKII this is a non-issue, but most MKII owners won't spend this much...

This can all be sidestepped by using different bulbs and ballasts (or D2S to AMP adapter) but I don't have the funds to play that game, at least on the first one.
